We had dinner last night with some old high school friends from another part of the country. I consider myself a big intactivist but I'm also pretty shy about bringing up the subject out of the blue. These guys were in town for a convention without their partners and one of them was expecting a baby boy any day. After a glass of wine and some good gnocchi I took a deep breath and asked if he'd made the circ decision yet.
I really couldn't believe I did it but I couldn't help myself! I've gotten a lot more outspoken after having a little boy myself. Having a boy with his own intact genitalia ROCKS!
:
He was pretty surprised and said honestly he and his wife didn't even think about it. It was just something they planned to do.
Like they didn't really even know people DON'T do it. I consider these people really sweet and smart. And they love their kids!
This is just an issue of the word not getting out, people! I'm all for everyone making educated decisions and I feel sad that people are simply not even aware really about the issues.
I kept the conversation really light and they asked all the usual questions. Both of the guys were pretty floored that a lot of the people in my community don't operate on their children and that I generally don't have any friends or clients who do. They were truly curious and their minds were opened I think. It went really well. They both have two girls already and I told the soon to be boy's papa to email me if he wanted any links, really not thinking he would though. Well I just got the email!

Okay so now what should I send him?

but some people really need that learning style. It definitely has some good info and the Penn & Teller clips too.
