Medical Organizations that take a stand against RIC?

Thread Starter
I have yet to see a group that does anything but have a neutral standing on the issue. Do you ladies know of any against RIC? What about WHO? Why is everyone so neutral. I just dont see why they cant take a stand against it. And even the AAP policy seems like it may lean toward the pro-circ side of the issue. They say there are small medical benefits but not enough to actually recomend it! Ugh, so frustrating! I wouldn't say that a 1/100 chance of not getting a UTI (for a cired little boy) is really an "advantage".
Any opinions?

From what I have read it's illegal in Finland and Canada,Denmark, and Australian doctors have called for a ban.And quite a few American doctors are against it

In 2007, the Tasmanian President of the Australian Medical Association, Haydn Walters, stated that they would support a call to ban circumcision for non-medical, non-religious reasons

A campaign has begun to forbid British physicians from performing ritual male circumcisions.

Unfortunately, it isn't really illegal anywhere yet. There have been a number of proposals to ban it in Australia and some European countries such as Denmark but none have passed such bans yet.

It's a question of interpretation of the law. The issue in Finland is the law is ambiguous (gender neutral I think as it should be) and some have been charged for religious circumcisions but none have been convicted. There was consideration of whether to explicitly legalize it for religious groups and that is where this story came from. But again no one has been convicted of this, unfortunately. So perhaps by the letter of the law you're right but as a practical matter it's not.

I wonder why they don't enforce the law?I have also heard that circumcision was illegal in Africa somewhere for those under 16.And I also heard it about another country maybe Vietnam?

If just one person circumcised as a baby in Finland sued they would probably start enforcing the law.
