Utah Doula -- need quick info

Thread Starter
Hi all,

If you had a doula for a homebirth (or are a doula that does homebirths) how much did you pay (or charge)? I am considering having one, but I think that it might be more than I am willing to spend. Any and all responses welcome, thanks so much. I need to decide soon (I am almost due!), so please let me know asap.

thanks!

I can't remember if I paid 300 or 400 for my doula (it was a homebirth). That was two years ago and I know that the going rate for most experienced doulas is around 400 now. Where are you at in Utah? I'm a student midwife and know many awesome doulas with a strong background in homebirth. Let me know if you need any recommendations.

I'm a doula in Davis County and I normally charge $650. For homebirths I do a discount though for $300.

My homebirth doula cost $300 or $350--can't remember for sure!

I did interview another one who charged a lot more, though.

I'm a doula in Utah and I charge $300 (same for home or hospital birth). I'm quite sure that most doulas around here will be flexible with payments if you need them to be. It's important to choose a doula who is a good fit for you personality-wise and philosophy-wise (hopefully money isn't the #1 motivating factor in which doula you choose). :

I didn't have a homebirth, but I just had a baby and used a doula who is working on her certification. She's not charging for April births so if you are due that soon I would be happy to pass on her info. She's had two homebirths herself so although she hasn't (that I know of) attended a homebirth yet, she understands the different environment of a homebirth. PM if you would like her email or phone number!

Mine was free because it was a friend of mine and I doula'd for her birth, also. I think the going rate in Utah county is around $300.00. But, almost every doula I know will work a deal with you to either trade services or something like that.
