How about Harrietta then? Maybe Harry for short.

Top picks right now:
Annabelle or Annabella - I love the name, but I prefer it spelled with N, Anabelle
Amelia (too common now?) - First thought is Amelia Bedelia
Lucia (Lucy) - I'm not crazy about Lucy and Lucia has too many different pronunciations, and from experience having a name with multiple pronunciations can get old.
Sun - Not one of my favorites of the earthy hippie girls names.
Eva - I prefer Evelyn

Secondary picks:
Stormy (go ahead, rip it apart ) - Honestly my first thought was that's a strippers name.
Delilah - I like Delilah, but it just shot up the popular chart last year. I'm guessing because of the song.
Madiline - I don't like alternative spellings of classic names... again from experience it gets old having to spell your name for people. Madeline is really popular around here, I know four little girls named Madeline.
Adaline or Adalaide - I like Adalaide
Juliet - Like this one too.
Amelie - I like it. It does immediately make me think of the movie.

Annabelle or Annabella - I like Anabelle better than anabella
Amelia (too common now?) - pretty cute but reminds me of amelia earhart
Lucia (Lucy) - I like Lucy not not Lucia
Sun - I'm not a fan. The first word that comes to mind is shine.
Eva - I like this name

Stormy (go ahead, rip it apart ) - I don't like it, it sounds like a kid with a bad temper
Delilah - I like it but the song "hey there delilah" comes to mind
Madiline - I don't like the alternative spelling, epsecially since it has "line" in it
Adaline or Adalaide - I like Adeline (spelled that way) but Adelaide reminds of me accolades (sp?) or Kool-aid
Juliet - I like it spelled Juliette
Amelie - Is it pronounced Emily? I've been seeing this one a lot lately spelled this way, I think it will be the #1 name pretty soon. But I do like it.

They all suck.

But Stormy gets my vote. I don't know why, I really really like it.

I don't post up my names to ANYONE. ever. because I do not care what people think about what I call my children.

So the four or five boy and four girl names I have picked out are staying a secret!

I'll play. What do you think of...

Abigail with a middle name of Ella, Violet, or Lily (LMK which middle name sounds best)

Kali (pronounced like Cahl-eeeee) middle name Jade

Madalyn (no idea what middle name we'd use)

Sorry I could never use the name Kali for my childs name because of the religious significance behind the name. There is another one that I have seen some use around here I could also not use because of the same reasons. I think it would be a hard name to grow with with the ties that come with it.

I am not in love with the spelling but I think Madalyn is a very pretty name.

Abigail is such a pretty classic name.

Not only because of what PP said, but it's also a common cat name, especially for calico colored cats. :P

*love this one. I would have Abigail on my list but it is my sil's name.

Kali (pronounced like Cahl-eeeee) middle name Jade
*like Cauli-flower? I am not a big fan either way.

Madalyn (no idea what middle name we'd use)
Yep, love it, although I think it is way too common.

I think Elijah and Delilah would be awesome sibling names together. I like the song "hey there delilah" I have no idea who sings it, but I have the tune in my head.

I like the name Amelia. Sounds very simple/little house on the prairie to me. My brother used the variation of Amele' (Ahhh-mih-lay) which I also love.

BIG FAT NO to Sun and Stormy (especially stormy, that's just stupid)

The rest are nice, but not names I would personally choose...

Isn't Stormy one of the Chincoteague ponies?
Yep. Stormy is Misty's foal, I believe. They sound like a pair of strippers.
I was so going to mention that Stormy was a horsey name, I guess I am not the only one who read those books in grammar school.

And yes it does sound a bit like a title of a adult film "Stormy and Misty" or a bad romance novel.

I love the name Amelia. That's my almost 5 yr olds name. We call her Mia for short
post #34 of 521
I thought Stormy was one of the X-Men??

I haven't seen any Amelias, but think I prefer Amelie.

Eva is a fave of mine, pronounced Ava, it's what I named my 1980 633 BMW

Juliet's dope. It was almost my name I like the spelling as I'm a big fan of girl's names that end on a consonant.

I had a close friend, Sunny, when I was like four, but no idea how the name weathers (sorry) as she grows. Seems like our resident Sunshine already weighed in on that, though.

I love Madeleine, but it's too common. And I don't like alternative spellings, either.

Abigail is my favorite of Jilian's names (love Madeleine, but see above). I don't like the multi-syllabic effects of Abigail-illy or Abigail-lella, so I'd pick Violet.

This thread rocks, good idea Spring Sun!

Kali Jade is my favorite out of these three(though I'm wondering what the religious signifigance behind it is?)

Abigail is way too common(maybe it's a southern thing? I know a few little girls around here named Abigail) - but if it had to be Abigail I think Ella sounds the best with it.

Madalyn is also too common, though I like the alternate spelling.

Top picks right now:
Annabelle or Annabella
Amelia (too common now?)
Lucia (Lucy)
Sun
Eva

Secondary picks:
Stormy (go ahead, rip it apart )
Delilah
Madiline
Adaline or Adalaide
Juliet
Amelie

That is all I got. Other suggestions are welcome!
I really like Annabelle- has great nicknames, I especially love Nan. I also like Madeline (or Madeleine) spelled conventionally. The others are all pretty except for Stormy- really don't like it. And Sun is so-so, don't love it.

Lots of Lucys out there these days. Amelie is a great name but will remind everyone of the movie.

Like Madalyn but not spelling. Don't like Kali, reminds me of Cali, as in California (and that old song- "I'm going back to Cali, to Cali, to Cali. I'm going back to Cali, no, I don't think so.")
Abigail is OK, I know a couple of small Abigails suddenly- is it getting more popular? I like your middle names you have to go with it better. Especially Violet.

We are looking for boy names. Any suggestions?
I like:

Patrick
Gabriel
Oliver

I already know the girl name I want: Hazel Faye (middle name is after a grandma.) I LOVE it, so I don't care what y'all think.
I love the name Fern, too. And, yes, I know it's an old lady name.

The religious significance would be her as a very strong Goddess often associated with Death and Destruction. Though some do worship her in a Mother form or a Goddess of change, it is not as common. She commonly is shown wearing a garland of human heads and is the patron of thieves. My issue as some one not of the Hindu faith is I would not use a Goddess name let alone one that has some very strong negative associations within the culture and outside the culture.

Thanks for sharing. I didn't know about that. I'm crossing that name off my list now. I don't want my baby girl associated with the goddess of death, especailly after what happened with DS2.

I love Abigail (though if I were going to use it I'd spell it Abigael instead, because I prefer the Irish spelling). It's very popular around here. I think of the middle names you picked Violet works best. I don't like the combination of L's that occurs with Ella or Lily.

Kali seems more like a nickname rather than a full first name and yeah there is that Hindu goddess connection.

Madalyn, again really popular name and I'm not a big fan of creative/alternative spellings.

LOVE this thread--I'll post our names when we get a bit more serious about thinking of some...we came up with a couple when we first found out we were pregnant, and just haven't really re-visited the name thing yet. =)

Top picks right now:
Annabelle or Annabella--Eh...they're okay. My niece was named Annabelle for six months. At six months, my sister got bored with Annabelle and changed her name to Annika.
Amelia (too common now?)--I'm not super-into it, but I like it better when spelled Emelia.
Lucia (Lucy)--I'm partial to this name, as my daughter is Lucie. Luciana, actually, but we call her Lucie. For a while I was regretting naming her Luciana, because it suddenly felt really pretentious and just...not her. But not she introduces her self as Luciana (pronounced, by her, "Lucie-na-na," and that's enough to make me love it again.
Sun--Not my thing.
Eva--This would have been my son's name if he'd been a girl. By the time my daughter came along, though, I was over it. I still like it, though...just not enough. Too close to Ava for my taste.

Secondary picks:
Stormy (go ahead, rip it apart--That's an adjective.
Delilah--I think I like this.
Madiline--Nope.
Adaline or Adalaide--I really like the name Ada...why not skip the "line" or "laide" and just have an Ada?
Juliet--Nah.
Amelie--This was my daughter's almost-name...we called her this for a good bit of my pregnancy. But too many people were mispronouncing it--they would pronounce it like "AH-melie" (sounds like "anomaly"). I still love it--and the movie association makes, not breaks, it for me.

ETA: Damn, why won't the colors just work??
