Is it real? Because I haven't been able to find a reference to it anywhere other than here and on a blog...

Me too. Simply too good to be true.

Reads more like wishful thinking than a joke, but I simply don't believe it's true. Far too utopian to be believable, but we can dream, right?

sick and twisted

I almost went looking for a 'reputable copy' so that I could share it with my co-leader. She would have been giddy.

It's really sad that this isn't the ACTUAL position of the AAP.

While I appreciate this joke for what it is (and it's a good one), it also makes me incredibly sad.

I hope that this actually helps to raise awareness of the twisted financial ties between formula companies, pharmaceutical companies and the AAP.

April Fools, indeed.

I have an idea! Let's all flood the AAP email with questions about, is this real?

Sending it to media outlets would be good! Or maybe illegal?

Humor works well!
It worked by bringing awareness to AAP there is real dissatisfaction with their affiliation with formula companies.

I'm sure the spoof press release had been passed around like a hot potato to every member of the board.

I sent an email (with a copy of the letter) to AAP public relations office, the link is on their web page, they quickly responded and said it was not from them, however their tone was not of amusement:the truth always hurts.
