Well, the AAP and their lawyers will surely try. However, I believe satire is protected and does not qualify as defamation. I would love to see them argue to a judge that he made them look better/more ethical than they actually are and that has hurt them somehow.

Humor works well!
It worked by bringing awareness to AAP there is real dissatisfaction with their affiliation with formula companies. I'm sure the spoof press release had been passed around like a hot potato to every member of the board. I sent an email (with a copy of the letter) to AAP public relations office, the link is on their web page, they quickly responded and said it was not from them, however their tone was not of amusement :the truth always hurts. |
