Ivf/icsi?

I'm sure my questions have been asked before, but, if anyone could help me out, I'd really appreciate it!!!!

I am currently on my second (and last) Clomid/IUI cycle....if this month doesn't work, then our only option next is IVF with ICSI due to my hubby's sever male factor infertility.

I'm wondering if anyone has gone from IUI to IVF/ICSI and gotten pg?? any info will help. Also - any advice regarding ICSI?

Thanks ladies, and sorry in advance if you've already answered these questions!

Tami - Check out the Spring IVF cycle thread. I know at least some of them are doing icsi, due to male factor or other issues. I don't think it's hugely different than standard ivf, at least the difference is in the laboratory, rather than in your drugs or protocol.

I know there are a few ladies here who conceived dc1 thru ivf/icsi, so there are success stories. However, remember that most of us here are still on the journey, as those that were successful moved onto ddc's.

Hopefully, it won't be needed as your final clomid/iui will do the trick!

I had my dd on my first try of ivf with icsi and assisted hatching. She is almost two years old now and I am considering ttc#2 the same way which is why I'm back to fertility boards .
We did all the treatments, drugs and procedures that exist for years before moving on to ivf.
I'd definitely recommend ICSI if you have male factor issues.
I can't promise I'll remember or know the answer but I'm more than willing to answer any questions you have.

Our first IVF cycle was with ICSI. Truthfully I wouldn't have done it any other way. We had 4 different semen analysis done, ranging from superman sperm to bad motility/morphology. We just thought that no matter what the sperm looked like on fertilization day we were going to do ICSI. Why go all that way, spend all that money and try to save $1000.00 and have none of the eggs fertilize was our reasoning behind it. I am now 20 weeks pregnant with our IVF/ICSI baby.

Our first IVf attempt was with ICSI unfortunately it was not successfull but there was maybe other reasons why. This cycle we will most likely be doing ICSI as well but the doc will make that decision once he sees the sperm on the ER day. You really don't have to do anything different with ICSI it's all in the embryologists hands. Good luck with your procedure. Fingers crossed that your IUI will work and that you will not have to go to IVF.

We have to do IVF with ICSI because we have so few sperm. It's nothing different at all, they just do a little more in the dish. Same drugs and everything.

Good luck!

Thank you for all your help ladies!! We just received notification today that my hubby's morphology was at 3% - so looks like we're skipping the IUI this month and will start the ivf/icsi cycle in May. It wasn't the best news, but I feel like we may just be heading in the right direction now.

Thank you so much again!!! Maybe I'll start lurking in the spring ivf thread!

We did 8 failed IUIs before moving on to IVF with ICSI. DH's SA was somehow screwed up at the first doctor we went to, and we spent 2 years thinking we could conceive with IUI, when it turned out it wasn't possible. :-(

So we went on to a new clinic and did IVF with ICSI, and it worked on the first try. Good luck to you!

I have done two IVF w/ICSI cycles and became pg both times (but had early m/c's). My first frozen cycle resulted in my fab dd, and I am now on my 4th frozen (FET) cycle, fingers crossed. It can work and like others have said, the only difference between IVF with and without ICSI is what happens in the lab (and the $$, of course!).
