TAO post must be approved?

What is this all about?

It says that my post must be approved by a mod before it posts?

Hello,

You can find information about that here

I thought it was a convenient way to shut some of us up, personally, since when I tried to post I never heard a word back and my thread did not ever show up. As it turned out we discussed the very thing I was posting about in another TAO thread the next day, so it all worked out in the end.

If it isn't approved aren't they at least going to drop us a line to tell us so?

If you are wondering about a thread please pm a TAO mod or me. The reason it was done was to help TAO reduce some moderator workload.

It was taking a lot of time to move OT threads to the appropriate forum they did pm people about moved threads while we were easing into the change but do not now as that doesn't reduce the workload.

Q&S is also on moderation as is Activism.

Activism is also to keep it on topic.

Is there a backlog with TAO right now? I posted a new thread about a week ago, and it hasn't shown up. Some threads with similar topics to mine have shown up, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't an inappropriate topic for the board.
Thanks!

Do I need to have a minimum number of posts in order to post to TAO? I used to see it show up, and then it didn't any more, I don't post a lot, but I like to read in many areas, and it is a shame to limit some members from reading in certain areas, because we don't post a lot.

It does require 50 post and 60 days of membership to access TAO. People do feel more comfortable if there are certain restrictions in some areas.

Thanks abimommy, I am guessing this was a recent change, but I guess I better get posting!
I am on a simple living forum, where I have about 850 posts, but it has taken me about six years to get to that point!!
Although I have been a MDC member for at least that long, I just enjoy reading, and often get the answer to any question without having to post.

I know you're not doing those kinds of updates right now, but IS there some kind of add-on that would send an automated message when a post is approved?

It's very lame of me, I know, but I don't think I've submitted a single thread to TAO since the change that wasn't (a) approved, and (b) totally unnoticed by me until it had been so long that I felt shy about bumping it back up.

while i understand the need for it i really hate that new threads have to be reviewed by mods first. i used to be in TAO all day, but my laptop died and now i am reduced to using the library computer which limits me to 1 hour per day. which has taken all the fun out of it for me.

also, i have a couple thousand posts but the TAO is not even on my screen anymore?? neither is PAP.

ok, nevermind i found TAO. but still can't find PAP.

Right - I find the problem is that by the time a post is approved, it's already buried. Maybe a mod could bump each post as they approve it?

Mine are like that too, I don't know if it's for everybody though. I think it might be because of a topic I posted awhile back.
