I would put my foot down with a dh like that I'm sorry, but MY needs and BABY'S needs come first, wayyyyyy before IL's

Had an AWESOME MW appointment today. She's so cool with being totally hands off and even being in the next room while I labour and birth, as long as she can come in every so often to check baby heartbeat. THey are very UC friendly, without being 'actually UC', if that makes sense?
: I'm feeling joy about my MW's, and my upcoming labour.

Eta, that demon is suppose to be me, not your dh btw

I've been having an on and off backache today, since about noon. Nothing with any pattern, nothing that's really painful... just enough to notice and say, "hey... that's different". It's higher up, though... around my waistline. Not the usual low-back pain I've gotten with previous labors/births. Not sure if it's just a little muscle soreness from all the hip-swirling on the birthball I've been doing the past few days... or if it's something more indicative of progress.

Emotionally, I'm feeling less impatient than yesterday. Both the two significant dates that I secretly wished the baby would come on have already past. I wanted either March 25 or April 1st for personal sentimental reasons. But since baby didn't choose either of those, it doesn't matter as much to me which day baby chooses for a birthday. Sooner is great, of course. But less impatience, and more peace on my part.

Lilgreen...sigh. I agree with everyone's prediction that you won't go into labor with them around. But man, this whole sitch just sucks.

Mel and Kate, sending some good labor-get-going vibes your way.

I had a weird evening. I've been working (like, my job stuff) non-stop for the past two days trying to get everything done before tomorrow so that I feel ready in case the baby comes soon, and then a co-worker (who is basically my supervisor) called and told me a bunch of really stressful stuff about the director of our school, so I got really agitated.

Right after I got off the phone with her, I started feeling sick (and stressed) so I went to take a bath, and started having contractions. A few moments later, I had horrible diarrhea (sorry, TMI) that just would not stop, I was shaking and felt feverish and also felt like I was going to throw up at any moment. It was awful. I started kind of freaking out like, I'm not ready for this! I'm still stressing out about my job! The house is a mess! What the hell??!

It finally stopped and I was able to go lie down to rest and just get it together. The contractions slowed down, I drank a bunch of lemonade and ate some soup, and now I'm feeling OK again.

I'm going to get into bed soon and sleep as much as possible just in case. I also put a waterproof pad on the bed in case my water breaks. So I don't really know what to think at the moment. I didn't eat anything weird today, and we are having a low-pressure system + big old thunder storm, so I guess it could be early-ish labor. But no mucous plug, and contractions are getting more intense or frequent.

So that's my report.

Just got done with pics....oh they looked so good, I'll post when she gets them loaded online. It was soo fun, I"m actually glad baby stayed in today so I could capture this moment!

I'm just having cramping, but we'll see what happens tonight as it appears that night time is when I have the "practice stuff".

Amy: praying your having baby soon!!!!

To the ones with issues about IL staying...I'm so sorry you have to deal with that. : We were just talking Easter and I told DH that if MIL is here and I go into labor I do not want her here while I labor at home...I wouldn't even want my own mom here and that DD will go with my mom as that is the only plan I'll be comfortable with. He understands that this is what I need to focus on birth, though I know it would be hard for him to confront his mom should it happen...so right now I'm just praying that MIL stays home for Easter but mostly that baby arrives before next weekend!!

ETA thankfully SIL lives here too, so MIL would have somewhere to go...

We have a huge child consignment sale tomorrow morning, so hoping I'm either in labor or feel good enough to go. It's always fun and great deals!! Then I have a midwife appt at 1 and I'm so looking forward to it to see if anything is progressing and to meet this last midwife.

No kidding. My sister has a part-time job taking dogs for "adventure hikes". Most of the world has never heard of doggie day care, and here people sign their puppies up on waitlists for a "good" one.

Had my appointment with my MW this evening. I was so happy to hear baby's heartbeat. I'm measuring 39 weeks - a couple of weeks ahead, as usual. (Same as my last pregnancy) I'm still healthy.

She sent us home with our birth tub, as our family is next in line. From now on, my appointments will be weekly and at home. :

sounds really stressful...I hope you're doing well and in labor if you want to be....or maybe just getting some good rest if you'd rather clean your house first.

How much longer are you working? If you don't go into labor tonight, maybe it's a good time to be done if you can afford it?

GL and hope you score big tomorrow (either a new baby or some great baby stuff)

okay, I want to preface this by saying I'm a huge dog lover...like huge:

Uhh...yuck. I mean, I know it sounds trite, but starving children all over the world (even in our own backyards) and people are spending money on this sh*t?!? ugh This world is messed up.

For me, I'm feeling a lot of twinges and odd feelings tonight...sharp pains in the vagina and rectum? on and off pressure? idk. Had to sit on the birth ball while we were watching our show with dinner.

Tried to stay on my feet most of the day to encourage southern migration. Tired, but not unduly.

Here is the call to action I received from NCFOM:

Dear Friends,

It is now time to make our voices heard. Senate Bill 164 if enacted will turn our CPMs into felons and potentially put our community in crisis. Senate Bill 164 turns the unauthorized practice of medicine into a felony and our CPMs have been in violation of the Medical Practice Act since 2007 when maternity care and parturition was established as the practice of medicine. This is hostile to women & midwives and disruptive to the legislative process that we have worked hard to conform to for 2 years now. We need to be sure this bill dies.

This coming Monday I will meet with Sen. Purcell to brief him on HB333 and convey our objections to SB164.

We need all of you to call and e-mail Sen. Forrester and Sen. Purcell during the next 2 days to express your concerns. Please DO NOT direct your frustration at the senators, they may very well not appreciate what this means. Our frustration is with the leadership of the North Carolina Medical Society. Our argument is that they have been obstructionists and have been successful in making North Carolina stand out among its neighbors as denying mothers access to regulated Certified Professional Midwives which is counter to safety. Here are some elements to include in your messages:

1) IMPORTANT – thank them both for their attention to NC Friends of Midwives and the needs of women in NC.
2) North Carolina is in the process of enacting legislation to license C PMs. NCFOM has remained in process and has followed the process outlined by the legislature. SB164 is a hostile and disruptive move and the NC Medical Society is out-of-process.
3) How can North Carolina make felons the same midwives who are licensed and regulated in our neighbor states of VA, TN and SC?
4) Do not make our midwives felons!
5) The North Carolina Medical Society is NOT a good faith partner in addressing the problems of North Carolina’s mothers who birth at home.
6) The 2008 House Select Committee on Licensing Midwives produced bil l language instructing the stakeholders, including NCOBGYN and NCACOG societies, to work with the Midwifery Joint Committee to establish Rules/Regulations/Standards for licensing CPMs in NC. This is a desperate attempt to obstruct the legislator’s call for collaboration.

Please use your own words and it is not necessary to make all of these points. It is important to call (their Office number) and e-mail.

Sen. Forrester

Sen. Purcell

Let's make our voices heard!

We have a rough IL situation too. This pretty much describes MIL- actually have you ever seen that sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond? that is very much the passive aggressive kind of behavior my MIL uses.

They kindly offered to watch DS, then I guess got mad because we weren't appreciative enough (aka making a huge deal of it every single time they talked to us) and said they might go on vacation somewhere, then relented and said they decided to stay home instead so they can be there to watch DS, and TODAY said they have vacation plans all next week. I'm obviously so over it after all this nonsense, how effing self-centered can you be? I think they're mad either because DS (who is 2) had a tt last time he visited them or because I am not getting my cervix checked every week in order to apprise them of a better estimate for when the baby will come. and and and maybe some :

Geeze, almost time for tomorrow's chat thread! I'd better drink my vinegar remedy (yuck) and head off to bed. Feels better to have vented for a second.

ugh..this irritates the hell outta me. All the women @ dh's work keep asking how far I'm dialated and when he tells them I haven't been checked and why it doesn't matter they all freak out. One actually had the nerve to tell him a person could die if they went into labor and weren't dilated...as if not checking my cervix is going to keep it from dilating...like the tree in the forest that didn't make a sound cause there was no one there to hear it fall!:

heatherweh, my mil is like the lady from Everybody Loves Raymond as well...she's even mentioned how lucky I am to NOT have a mil like the one from that show, haha if only she knew But she also lived with us for a year so maybe thats partly why we don't get along.

now i've done it...I ate a whole bar of dark chocolate...like 80%...and now I'm having major heart palps...hope it passes. I just drank 3 glasses of water to try and flush it out...apparently dark chocolate has something in it called Theobromine and Theophylline which causes palps...not just caffeine........

not a good night...now i'm coughing and have phlegm stuck in my throat and had to get out of bed...I asked dh if we could sleep with the window closed b/c my allergies had kicked up in the last couple of days, but he just had to tempt fate. : Once I started hacking he closed the window, but now I'm up outta bed b/c otherwise i'll keep him up with my coughing all night. heart palpitations are mostly better, but just my luck i'll go into labor exhausted from a night of this crap.:
