Where will you give birth?

Let's share what our plans are for this birth - the Who/What/Where.

I'm assuming I will have pre-e again since I've had it twice in a row now so I'm planning a hospital birth with my wonderful doctor. If I don't get pre-e, I may be calling a MW to come catch my baby at home at the last minute. I want a natural birth with no pain meds but that's nearly impossible if I'm induced. I tried it last time but didn't make it through transition thanks to pit and cytotec both causing ctx right on top of each other. No cytotec this time, that's for sure.

Planning a homebirth with a midwife.

I am aiming to give birth at home in a fishy pool, with my hubby, midwife, & oldest son present. I wouldn't mind if DH caught the baby and I'd like for him and my oldest son to cut the cord together. My dad will also be here to watch the 2 younger ones but he won't be in the room with us when I give birth.

I'd like a homebirth, but don't know yet if it will be feasible where I live (in China I mean). I had my first at a hospital and it was fine, if I have to go the hospital route again it'll be ok. The hospitals here are anti-pain meds and I went 12 days overdue without anyone pushing an induction on me so it would be natural anyhow, just in a hospital surrounded by other women also giving birth. Actually that part was kinda cool.

Hospital with a midwife, hopefully. When I had my m/c last year I looked into the mw practice and their policy on VBAC is hospital birth. They have hospital privileges same as a family doctor and they say the hospitals are pretty cool about letting them run the show while you're in labor. There is a birthing centre option available now that wasn't last year so I'll investigate that too.

If I don't get into the midwifery practice, I don't know what I'm going to do. I am NOT going to my family doctor who, when I asked him about using a midwife, told me I could also give birth in a field in Africa.

That does sound pretty cool!
DP and I have actually talked about this quite a bit and would like to have a midwife delivered home birth. But everything's a little up in the air. Our house isn't even finished yet!

I just confirmed with my MW practice that they will take me on for a home birth. It was up in the air for a day or two because I now live further away from them and the hospitals they can use, but they decided to go for it. I wonder if they forgot that last time, the baby arrived before the midwives did?

My primary midwife is the one I was hoping for. Both my primary and secondary mws from last time are off when I'm due. My youngest was breech for a while, and I met with a mw who has a lot of experience with breech births. In my province, a breech baby automatically disqualifies you for a homebirth, and you have to have an OB for your primary care provider (though you still have your MW) and it's almost unheard of for OBs in this province to "allow" a vaginal breech. But this MW has a good relationship with an OB who will let her go ahead, and she has had breech vaginal births there. Hopefully that won't end up being an issue : but it give me peace of mind now.

I want a home birth buut I can not afford a mid wife and insureance will not cover it Buuuut my OBGYN is a part of a wellness center and very very crunchy he even said to me now you dont want meds correct I intsntly fell in love: he will no matter what be the one delivering!! I love that!! He is going to check to see if the hospital will do a water birth or if I will at least beable to labor in the water:

I am hoping for a homebirth, but need to get DH on board with that. Definitely going with a midwife though - I had an unpleasant experience with DD and want to go drug-free this time and in our own good time. If DH is uncomfortable with a homebirth, then we will be having the baby at the hospital with the midwife doing all the catching and coaching. Love DH, but not his forte

It was! I thought for sure I would hate not having the privacy, but it was actually pretty comforting having other women going through the same thing at the same time, like we were all in it together. I wouldn't mind if I had to do the same thing again.

No clue what I'm going to do about anything. I have had 2 c-sections so I don't know if I could even get a dr. to "give" me a vba2c in a hospital and I'm pretty sure that midwives in Louisiana aren't allowed to touch me. Anyway we shall see I guess. Alot depends on insurance too though. My husband got laid off the week before we found out I was pregnant so now I'm waiting on the medicaid office to tell me if I'm approved. I've never had a baby this route so I'm a little concerned about the whole thing. But this is my third pregnancy and I know what to do at this point so getting in immediatly is not that big of a deal. Eat right, excercise, drink lots of water, take my vitamins etc etc.

I'm planning to birth this babe out of my vagina and into my hands with only my dh and dd present in the comfort of our own home. And possibly my mom and sister will be there if I feel like I need the support.:

Just have to say- sounds similar to my situation!
I'm planning a HB with a MW. This will be my 4th and 3rd w/o any drugs. (First in hospital w/ MW - epidural wore off even before pushing. second in hospital w/ same MW-drug-free. Third in Birth Center w/ MW drug-free- but not a great exp.)
Dh will NOT be part of the birth except maybe a little at first. After 3 births we have learned it is definitly not HIS forte either! lol
I'm am more than ok with this, and realize it will just be easier on every one. (He just makes ME more anxious!)
I really haven't really talked about it with DH yet- I think he assumes I'll have the baby at the birth center again, and I'm trying to think of the best plan of action as to how to tell him I want this babe at home.
His anxiety is really bad, and he's still not over the shock of the BFP yet!

I had an emergency cesarean with Rain (1994), Gavin (2000) and Liam (2003) were both successful VBACs (although Liam was stillborn) with a midwife and a doula, and then Cohen was cesarean (2005).

I am assuming no one here is going to give me a trial of labor after 2 cesareans, which is depressing. I hate cesarean deliveries - to me it feels more like a baby-ectomy than a birth. But at the same time, I passionately love my OB for every other reason, and I guess the end justifies the means for me.

I am trying to find ways to make a cesarean seem like less of the surgical procedure it is. Any ideas on how to naturalize a completely unnatural process?

I personally never had one but my sister had 2. She incorperated hypno babies into her delivery the last time and her expereance was much better and peaceful as was her recovery she was extreamily saddend that she was told not to go for a VBAC because of how bad her scar was with the first! They were convinced that they would tear with labor. My mothers hystorectamy scar is less than her C-Section scar! I would try Hypno birthing/Hypno Babies route just because i know how much it helped my sister!

I am mostly hoping for a homebirth. It really depends on the midwife situation here - how much they cost, are they available. I have to find out still. I think in any case I still go to the public health clinic for prenatals. Not looking forward to that (they are kind of ultrasound-happy and quite probably anti-homebirth) so I think I'll put them off as long as I can.
If a hb midwife is not going to work out, there is an in-hospital birth center closeby, which would be close to free and probably pretty mellow.
Though I've also been hanging out on the UC board for a long time and might consider that (though getting DP on board would be interesting). I think it really depends on what my intuition tells me as this pregnancy goes on.
