Interesting article. I haven't finished it yet, either, but I read up to the part about Mayme Glover and her son who had diarrhea and died before his first year. It just reinforces in my mind that which I picked up from Milk, Money and Madness which is that even when bottlefeeding meant death was likely, people bottlefed.

wow, great article! is anyone else saddened by the fact that only breastfeeding mothers will be the ones reading it? i think that is the biggest obstacle.

i really liked that article though. the example of Coit feeding the puppies human milk really encapsulates the message breastfeeding advocates are trying to get out there. It's not that human milk is superior to cow's milk--it's that human milk is superior to cow's milk for *human babies*!
