Is anyone doing treatments at Boston IVF? - Page 2

wonderful experience at BIVF

I had a wonderful, wonderful experience with them and they didn't even get me pregnant. They are a very well organized place. I saw Dr. Oskowitz in their Brookline office. I also had retrievals and transfers with Dr. Ryley and found him so funny, he really put me at ease. If you are looking for a urologist, Dr. Lazaru is also excellent. Also, the Domar Center is amazing.

I am in the same boat. Boston IVF in Waltham and Harvard Pilgrim. Both have been so amazing! Even the Village Fertility Pharmacy in Waltham has been helpful with questions I have had. Doctors and nurses are very responsive in my opinion and always return calls quickly.

So many Boston area people on here! We should start a support group!

Agreed! I can't tell you how hard it is to talk to people about this. I have had 3 family members give birth in the past 2 months, and 2 more announce new pegnancies. My husband called me today to tell me about another one of our friends....I was like...too bad its not us It is so nice to be able to talk to people that can relate

Ugh... you are surrounded by babies. It IS hard to talk about, especially when you want to be excited about other people's pregnancies and it's just a slap in the face!

Hi all

I've been attending Newton Wellesley and haven't been that happy with the service. I was thinking of going to Bringham Women's Hospital, but I noticed that Bringham, Mass General and NWH are all part of Partners Reproductive Medicine. So am I likely to encounter the same service and doctors if I go to BWH or MGH?

Thank you for any advice :-)

I cannot recommend highly enough Dr. Ryley at Boston IVF. I NEVER felt rushed by him and always left his office feeling better and more hopeful than when I went in. He was truly wonderful. In fact, and I know this is weird to say, I kind of miss him now that I'm with my regular OB/GYN. His nurse, Heidi, was also wonderful and very patient.

I'm glad I stumbled upon this post. DH and I were supposed to have a consult with Dr. Penzias at the Maine center.

We decided to hold of on anything medical for a bit, but the center reassured us that when we're ready again, we can see Dr. Penzias if he is still coming to Maine.

Thanks for this post!!

Interesting about the program being generalized.  We got pregnant through Boston IVF and Dr. Ryley who got us enrolled in a Microarray CGH study (which is very definitely not a routine procedure).  The one time that I was upset about something and asked to speak with Dr. Ryley, his secretary was more than receptive and he called me right back.  I'm sorry others have not had the same experience.  I hope you're able to find a clinic better suited to you.  It has to be awful not to feel comfortable with your care providers.

No complaints thus far with the staff at the Waltham office.

We looked at RSC in Lexinton and felt it was not the clinic for us.

The staff is awsome in the sense that they totally get what the patient is going thru in terms of the psychological aspect of having to go thru infertility treatments of any sort and how having to go thru any sort of infertility treatment effects the couple on many levels.  A large sticking point for my spouse and I is the weight factor  and they offer nutrition counseling thru the Domar Center wich is worth looking into if weight problems are present.  The other issue is the insurance aspect and the whole mess that can create.  For us our health insurance would not cover at all so we are having to find a way to pay for any treatment on our own.  The doctor we see is very aware of the cost of the treatments and  the fact that $10-15K per IVF cycle is nothing to take lightly.

My hsuband and i have found a way to save for therapy it entails us moving back in with my parents so we can save up the $30K required for the two cycles of IVF that would hopefuly give us the baby we've been wanting for so long.  We've figured it out it will take us two years of saving almost everything we've got financally.  We will be sacraficing alot in terms of having to live back at my parents house, but if it enables us to have a chance at the IVF, within the next two years then we are willing to do it.  And hopefuly by not stressing about the bills ect. and the "omg how to pay for this and everything else".  I can give my self the chance to focous on my health and allow my spouse to stop stressing about our bills ect.

I would recomend anyone who knows there is something wrong in terms of their ability to reproduce, set up a consult with one of the docs on staff they know what they are doing and they want the best for their patients.

Wow, a lot of Boston area members on here!

I have to cast my vote for RSC. Now, I'm not casting a vote against Boston IVF because I've heard so many good things, and in addition DH's cousin and her husband got pregnant there. I know ladylaura felt RSC was a bit big and impersonal, but I've been lucky and have had a very different experience-- my nursing team has been super friendly, personable and helpful, and I can call and ask stupid questions and they always get back to me. They're very sensitive and kind. And the bloodwork ladies are so, so excellent... I mean, when you have to get blood drawn 3-4 times some weeks, you don't want it to hurt every time! They're like magic over there. I have Dr. DiGirolamo, by the way. :) So I think you can't go wrong with either clinic.

I'm with you .... RSC all the way!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Glatstein!! Bumped into him at Target once!

Anyway, ditto on everything you said about RSC!

You go for it girl!! Embrace those Gonal-F injections!! They really aren't too bad!!  :)

Hang in there!

I have had two treatments so far with Dr. Ryley.  He is great, but I have to say that his staff, especially the administrative assistant is absolutely incompetent and not friendly at all.  The time I wasted to try and sort out insurance and referrals -- I could have gotten pregnant in that time!  So I decided to go to another fertility clinic.  We are all vulnerable at this stage and although I don't need hand holding, I do need someone who seems to care, even if it is on a superficial level.  This I did not get from the Ryley team.  So, very disappointing.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I admit, I'm rather surprised as I did not have that experience with Dr. Ryley's office at all. Obviously you have to go where you're most at ease.
