It's a girl!!!

Elsie was born at home on March 31st at 12:45.

I was supposed to go see the midwife that morning for a sweep but called the day before saying I was really sick and really didn't think it was a good time to go into labour. Well... the baby had other plans.

I had the laziest, quietest birth ever thanks to losing my voice on the weekend and being really sick in the few days leading to labour and having zero energy. It felt like I almost slept through the whole thing, which is just great!

Wow! Great work mama - i am amazed that you were able to pull through your labor feeling sick like that. I was so scared I would go into labor when I was sick. And a lazy birth seems impossible!

Anyway, congrats!!!

Thanks everyone!

I seem to finally be mostly over that cold, two full weeks later. I went out for the first time yesterday, the air was cold and I found my chest cough returning almost instantly. :

I honestly never thought I'd go into labour while being sick. I think the baby was tired of the constant cough, although well cushioned, it must have been annoying for her.

It was such a quiet birth. I'm not a screamer anyway but since I could only whisper, everyone else was whispering too. And I had so little energy, it was like: "do you think you could move your leg this way?" And I replied: "sure, as long as someone moves it for me and holds it in place." They offered a few different birthing positions but moving my body just seemed like so much work! Finally the midwife said that side lying could be comfortable. Since it only involved going from sitting on the bed to lying on my side on the bed, that was a winner!
