So bloody show.....?

I was reading in another thread. Someone mentioned that white plug doesn't really mean much

But said that bloody did.

How much bloody? brown/red?

I don;t think i had any mucus plug left, or little to none. Had a little bloody show and menstral like crampy today. Had very small amount of red yesterday on the tp when wiped, then after the cramping in the morning brown on underwear and when i wiped.

That's normal though right?

When do people normally go into labor after bloody show? (yea like there is any normalcy with pregnancy...)

I did have a bloody musucy plug with dd and water broke 24-48 hours later.

Just obsessing and making sure I shouldn't call in for something being wierd or anything.

It all sounds normal to me.

FWIW, your cervix will continue to regenerate more mucus indefinitely (some people lose more than one plug or continue to have several bloody shows during labor). It's just that the amount & consistency of the mucus changes w/ your hormones (& certainly from person to person can vary a great deal)

I have to say I'm feeling jealous of your bloody show . GL!

Peeking from May DDC. Bloody show (on its own, not from stripping membranes, etc.) was always the very beginning of labor for me. Loose bowels and bloody show are always my signs of labor beginning.

I wish signs were universal for everyone. Should would make the guessing game easier, wouldn't it?!

GOOD LUCK!

yeah, bloody show was the biggest indicator for me. labor always started that day.

What is the difference, if any, between bloody show and a brownish/blood tinged and what I thought was the mucus plug? Is bloody show fresh blood? Brown means old so maybe that's the difference. I've seen lost of brown mucus blobs that I thought were plug. Maybe it's bloody show? I don't know!

For me, when I am referring to bloody show, it was the plug, etc. and the blood was from that and also dilation, etc. cervical changes. Mine ranged from red to brown, just depending.

Not to be too graphic (is that possible on a due date board? ) but it kind of resembled blowing your nose after you have a bloody nose.

For me bloody show isnt a one time thing. i have had a bloody plug, but it doesnt indicate labor for me. bloody show is when i have a bit of blood tinged 'stuff' everytime i pee and am contracting up until i birth.

I think I'm being a little parinoid, but well that's not to odd for me!

So I'm a little nervous about my cervix. Nothing is going on like labor wise. I checked to see if anything had gone on from the last few days or so...

So last pregnancy I checked myself as well, along with all before getting pregnant and this pregnancy. So I have a good idea of what my cervix feels like, when dialating and whatnot.

I'm dialated to about a 4. But what has me questioning is what does the inside of the O supposed to feel like??? No not like messing with what you feel, cause I don;t want to break my water! I just noticed it felt very veiny almost and totally don;t remember that from last time.

But what really made me go huh?? was my actual cervix. It feels likea small portion of that veiny part inside the cervix is attached to the inner lip of the cervix.

That's just not right, right? This was the first time I've felt that with this pregnancy though. I'm just a little freaked out thinking something's wrong.

I keep thinking OMG what if that's the placenta? At my ultrasound a long time ago I remember her checking placenta placement and saying it was out of the way. But could it have gown in the way since then?

I've had 2 internal - one from the ob that doesn't seem to know much without machines or whatever, and one from what seemed a very competant midwife. Wouldn't they have felt the part inside and had known it felt wierd though?

Am I worrying for nothing? Of course I felt this before watching the ER finale where the pregnant lady had massive bleeding (from something else) and got even more worried. And with 2 losses on this board I'm so worried something will go wrong. i'm such a worrier!

And if I should call in to the office to say something to them are they going to be all pissed I checked myself? I mean they are ok with having sex, and he doesn't clean that before hand or anything like I do my hands...

So did any of you check yourself during pregnancy, what did you find/feel?

I've checked myself and told the midwives. I figure my washed hand is cleaner than a penis. (Can I say penis?) Plus, the midwife said that my body would be more used to anything from DH and I. Makes sense to me.

So, lately, (I'm a few weeks behind you) I've found that it's all mushy in there. What used to be a clear cervix is now just one big mush circle. And I was surprised that it seemed quite open (2 cmish). The midwife checked and she said it was closed! She explained that it's shaped more like this /\ and they measure the most closed part. That makes sense to me since I haven't seen any mucous plug or anything like that.

I didn't feel anything veiny, but the whole thing was very ridgy. You can always call and ask. Or, just hang out until your next appointment and ask then. It depends on how worried you are.

i think i'm just making myself worry, so i'm just going to ignore it
I mean an ob and midwife checked me and i was 2 cent with one and 3 witht he other so i think they wold have noticed something wierd or different.

I just need to stop worrying about things. Any little thing that's abnormal in the slightest this pregnancy makes me worry.

Thanks for the reply though!
