What room shall we do this month?

You guys decide... I'm off to power clean the whole house since I have tooooo many people invited over on Saturday for a "welcome to our new house party" ... at least i can stuff things in boxes and it won't look too out of place! Wish me luck. Hopefully I'll make it through the weekend!

I'm open to a "whatever room you want" challenge again this month (mainly because I still have some rooms left over from previous months)...
I'd like to join in! I haven't done a room challenge before.

Me too. I think mine needs to be the craft/paperwork/junk room. I've just finished the childrens' 'bedroom' (no bed, but children's clothes are in there).

I've got to work on my kitchen. It's an eat-in (no dining room) and we have very limited cupboard space, and it's gotten bad. :

I would love to do the kitchen. I need to reorganize, clean and fix storage in there.

I'm going to divide the room into four, one for each weekend in April.

Removing extra junk/ organising bookshelfs
Papers
Craft projects
Prettifying

What I predict will actually happen is that all the 'extra junk' from the craft room will get brought into the kitchen and form a pile on the island, and I'll collect all the papers from elsewhere in the house to make a bigger pile on the filing cabinet. I'll then get caught up in trying to finish some half done craft as I'm putting it neatly in a box, and while I'm doing that I'll be inspired for something I have to run to Michaels and get supplies for and those things will be dumped on the floor upstairs when my baby wakes up and then it will be May.

I'm not sure exactly what to do with my kitchen . . . I know I need to clean out the cabinets under the sink. There's tons of crap down there I never use, like the old nonstick pans my mom gave me when I moved out. And I'm looking at baker's racks online, so I can get rid of the microwave cart and have some more room for food storage. Oh, and there's applesauce splattered on the ceiling. I should probably do something about that, eh?

I don't think I've ever done a room challenge before, but I think it's time. Doesn't matter what room to me, they all need work!
I've never done a room challenge either, but my vote (in terms of necessity on this end!) would be for the kitchen!!!

Regardless, I'm subbing and hopefully things will improve mood-wise around here, I'll magically find the motivation, and voila! Presto-change-o, I'll have a sparkly kitchen!

I am well underway! I went in there, got inspired, went to Hancock fabrics and got halfway through the project. That's one off my list of things to do.

I cleared out the overflowing microwave cart this afternoon. Next I'm clearing off the top of the fridge, and after the kids are in bed I'm working on the cabinets. And, er, the applesauce on the ceiling.

I'm trying to figure out what to do with the chairs . . . two years ago my dad bought us a table and chairs, and the seats are RUINED. The seats are white cloth with a lace-type fabric (WHAT was my dad thinking?!), and the kids have gotten every food imaginable on them. It looks disgusting. The stains are there to stay. I'm thinking about getting a wipe-clean vinyl tablecloth in a pretty pattern, cutting it into squares, and trying to staple the squares over the existing fabric . . . not sure whether it will work though.

So kitchen?

TOmorrow we are washing the outside of the cabinets and the walls. That is HUGE... totally needs to be done!

Most chairs have removable seats so you can do just that, google upholstering DIY or something. My mom and grandma did it multiple times.

Thanks, I'll check that out!

Fridge, under-sink cabinets and top of the cupboards are done! I got the applesauce off the light fixture, but the spots on the ceiling tiles won't come off. Oh well, I tried.

How's everyone else coming along?

I'll do DD's room. All I need to do is sew a new duvet, find a desk and hang 2 prints. How hard could that be? ()
Today we: washed the walls and the outside of the cabinets, cleaned the cabinet under the sink, moved the stove and cleaned behind it and washed the outside of the appliances.

DH also took the boxes of storage that had been sitting there out to the garage, so yay!
