I got the call today that dd1 will officially start her kindy year at a local Montessori charter school! : I am so relieved that her application was accepted and I know NOW (instead of days before school starts) that we can plan for this all summer long! WOWOWOWOW! : I'm crying happy tears!!! Since there is sib preference, dd2 and dd3 will also go there. It's K-8, which I am SO happy about!!

Oh, I am just so happy today!!!!!

Congratulations!

: I understand your joy. My DD1 just started Montessori school this school year (she was four). We found out last March that she would start in August of 2008, and we were so happy and excited you would have thought she got accepted to an Ivy League college!

It's been a wonderful year. I was somewhat reluctant at first to let her start school a year early, but I knew she was ready and how I loved Montessori. Like I said, it has been wonderful. We could not have made a better choice for her. The environment is so gentle and there is so much love. She is absolutely thriving. She loves going to school, because it is so much fun. And somwhere along the line while she was having so much fun, she learned how to read and is now learning how to write. The best part, though, is how much she loves to help other children and how much she strives to be a "peacemaker".

We wish your DD a wonderful first year!!

I hope that we join you there next year.

I'm totally jealous.
If we had a Montessori around here, I'm not sure that we would be considering homeschooling.

Congrats! That's so exciting--especially since you get sibling preference as well!

: Congratulations! I followed your thread a bit about this and had checked in with you awhile back about it...I can only imagine the thrill you must be feeling right now. Yahoo!

I'm waiting for lottery results as we speak and it's driving me crazy, so I know what you went through. I hope to report similar news in the coming weeks...what a relief for you and what a wonderful summer you'll have knowing what the fall holds for your little one. Wonderful!

Congratulations! Our middle child got in to public Montessori and now we're are praying for her older sister to get in too. She is first on the list so hopefully. I have a very good idea of how great it would be to be able to know where she is going in the Fall instead of waiting and hoping.

Awww...thanks!! I am seriously considering Montessori training. My dd's future school is hiring for an admin. asst. which pays very little and is a 9-6 job, but I think that would be SUCH an "in" at the school. Hmmm....I'm not sure what to do.

I just want to scream Montessori from the rooftops. I just talked to a parent today who has a child in dd's class. He is already reading (just turned 5 today) and seriously read EVERY one of his birthday cards! I'm so concerned that the public school he will be attending will be so horrible for him (even though it's considered one of the better schools in the district). Nothing....NOTHING...compares to Montessori. I'm so afraid this little guy is going to be so bored in his kindy class.

: We got our acceptance 2 weeks ago for this fall in our Charter school as well.

After I learned there are 21 public school kids signed up for her current school next year, I was much happier with my choice to go charter for the 4-year-old program vs waiting till Kindergarten when she would be competing against so many other kindergartners to get into the charter program the following year - the only Montessori program for K-8th grade in the area unless I want to go out of state. The only 2 other Montessori programs within about 30 miles are both public charter schools - but in a different state.
