anyone know of a free floreclosure listing site?

I'd like my mom to get something to live in permanently, but all the foreclosure sites are pay.

TIA

You mean homes for sale that were foreclosed?

http://www.freeforeclosuredatabase.com/ Free and has all the ones I know of in our small town listed so seems accurate.

You can also find them through state/city tax pages, I think. Hooksvanholm.com lists some for certain states.

Just be careful that you don't leap too quick. Get an inspection, see it for yourself, etc. There are some great houses for very low prices, but there are also some houses that are in terrible shape, or have *major* things wrong with them.

Yep. It's a big problem here in the Northeast -- a lot of foreclosed homes weren't winterized properly. There was one property ($80k) we found that had five feet of frozen water in the basement. That means the foundation will start falling apart, if it hasn't already. In other homes, you might be lucky if all you have to replace is a cracked toilet.
