Help me with my washing routine- its not working!

What the heck is going on?

I use FB and BG. I only have 11 right now so I am washing an extremely small load.

I was every other day.

So far, I have done wash on hot with an extra rinse with Purex free and clear. They are coming out clean looking and with no smell, but there is poop stain on some of them!

Is it a stain? How on earth could there already be poop stains after only wearing these a few times and washing them after a day??

What I've found is that poop stains. It's kind of the reality of diapering. It really is just a stain-- if the diaper smells clean, it is clean.

If the stains really irritate you, you can try an oxygen bleach like Oxi Clean, or try sunning the wet diapers. But it really is okay to just ignore the stains.

Try doing a cold rinse before you wash, to get most of the poop off before introducing hot water. The hot can kinda set the stain in, ya know? And if you're going to try to get rid of the stains, don't dry the diapers in a hot dryer until they're clean enough to satisfy you.

But my personal opinion is you'll drive yourself crazy if you try to get out every single stains. Just wait until you're ready to pack away or sell the used diapers, and get the stains out then. Otherwise you might spend half your life doing diaper laundry. The stains fade all on their own with time, and they don't mean your diapers aren't clean.

yeah, I don't really care about the stains too much. They are diapers after all and as long as they're clean that's all that matters. I just found it really strange that they were ALREADY stained after just a couple wears and washes.

I will try doing a cold rinse first and see if that helps. Although, probably to late for the already stained right?

If the current stains are annoying try sunning... but they really will fade with time! We were getting stains until we started doing a cold rinse first so definitely try that

We have FB and BG too and haven't had a staining issue...yet! Do you use a diaper soak in your pail? I think that can exacerbate staining. Also, I know that Purex Free and Clear has brighteners so I wonder if that makes any difference?
Our diapers have definitely sat longer than a day in our pail We do the cold rinse once in a while but not every time. I do agree though that hot water in general sets stains. Maybe some babes just have stainier poo

Do you soak them in cold water first? I think using hot water first would help to set in the stain rather than get it out.

good point about the hot water.

Thanks guys, I tried doing cold first and I think it helped. Although something is wrong with my washing machine I guess, because the diapers are soaking wet. I try to do just a final spin and it's not working... shoot.

I just thought of this too... we have really hard water here and had nothing but trouble with Purex, we switched to Country Save and things have been a lot better!!

That was it! Not washing in cold first made the stains happen, I'm pretty positive. No stains this time on the diapers that were good. I'm so glad I figured this out now!

so, I will either do a cold wash and then a hot wash, or I will figure otu a way to soak them in cold water first.

thanks guys!
