So just because you are being cut with a c/s doesn't mean that the process is similar enough to kill two birds with one stone.
Funny. I'm off the idea, trying to just get back to loving my body as it is (REALLY hard being this uncomfortable!). But I've loved the support.

I know a c/s scar -- mine is TINY. I don't know enough about cosmetic/plastic (why plastic?) surgery to know the difference between liposuction and a tummy tuck, apparently. ;-)

I had no idea a c/s scar was tiny. Not that anyone except DH or I would be seeing my tummy, but that (oddly) makes me feel better. I'm so not good with cuts and healing and stuff like that. I had such a hard time when DD had stitches in her hand...I'm not sure I could deal with a big one on my own body.

I asked my OB about this!! She said no :-) She explained that during pregnancy you bleed so much more, it's just not safe to do extra procedures (although I had the same thought as you, just reach your hand down there, scoop up some fat and toss it in a trashcan).
You hear so much about the L.A. celebrities scheduling c-sections so they can also get tummy tucks, and somewhere I read that a majority women in Manhattan (hope I'm not offending anyone in Manhattan) are doing the same . . . I thought it was just a common practice.
Apparently it's a myth??

At any rate, I'm glad my OB said no, so that I don't have it in the back of my mind that I want to end up in surgery.

c-section scar

Yeah, if you have to have major surgery to meet your baby, talk to the doctor about the incision. First of all, of course, you want the across kind not the up and down kind. But, also, mine is *so* low it's barely noticeable (near the pubic hair line). It's only a few inches across. She spent a *lot* of time (she told me) stitching it up which makes a big difference in the thickness of the scar.

Anyway, for me, it's sort of moot because the said belly pouch kind of hangs down over it. :-)

No judgement here. I'll no doubt get a tummy tuck down the road as well, I've already got the scar from my first (and hopefully only) c-section, so when I'm done having kids, I'll be doing that undoubtedly!

Asher- Yup! The scar is pretty small, mine is about one inch of pucker and the rest of it is pretty smooth and faded away. Also it is about an inch below my pubic hair line, so if I actually had pubic hair it would be invisible.

Another fringe benefit of a c/s is that (at least with me) they sewed together my abdominal muscles. Perhaps thats why my tummy bounced back so fast and flat. Who knows?!

I plan on binding with this birth. Perhaps that'll have the same effect in knitting the muscles back together.

See, I'd rather have a boob lift than a TT. I'd never have to wear a bra again! But I think they 'make' you get implants when you get a lift, and I don't want those. I just want my boobs to be perky again

No judgment from this girl either!

Me too- sometimes I think I'll get a reduction and lift when I'm totally done baby-having. It kind of depresses me that my own mother, in her mid-fifties, is way perkier than me. Clearly my boob genes were from the other side of the family...

You don't have to get implants to get a lift.

I want a lift or a lift and reduction one day.

i've thought about doing something to my boobs. it's kind of sad. they went from a cute B to two sizes bigger than DD when i was EBFing, down to a saggy baggy DD when my milk supply tanked at the beginning of this pregnancy. *sigh

DH doesn't like the idea, though. he understands the tummy tuck, because of the section scar dragging down my belly and making clothes fit weird, but he thinks that breastfeeding out girls is something close to holy, and doesn't like the idea of "fixing" the after effects. i love him for it, of course

How does the binding work? I've heard of it but don't know anything about it. My tummy has been the hardest part for me to work on, and I finally had it nice before I got pg! I'm hoping to be able to get back there again.

I just wanted to chime in and say how refreshing this converstaion is!!!!!

binding- I don't know a whole lot about it but I do know there are a few patented products out there- one is the belly bandit but others just use surgical compression wraps, ace bandages, or long fabric. I think I still have my surgical compression thing from my c/s so I might try that. You could do a search here and find some threads about it. There are various ways and time periods to do it apparently.

Eh, if I had the extra money, and had to have a C-section (and knew I wasn't going to have any more kids), I might undergo the additional procedure.
It seems, though, that C-section openings are pretty small and a lot lower than is generally assumed, so you might need a completely different procedure/cut to have the tummy tuck. I would research it well first, but it doesn't seem overly vain to me if you're already going to be going the "getting cut open" route.
