Sent in my positive comments!!! And yay yay yay for these lactivist mamas! Apparently the life guards have been advised to zip it around nursing moms!

Why would you want to feed your baby in the pool? Pool water is filled with chemicals. The article suggests that the pool has addressed the concerns of being able to nurse AT the pool with the lifeguards so why the nurse in? I thought those were saved for when the establishment would not yield to the rights of nursing Moms?

Also, my pool doesn't allow food or drink in the water so why is it so hard to get out and nurse in a chair?

Update on Calgary Nurse-In!

Here's the message from the organizers:
"Hi All!

We had made 4 requests when contacting the manager of the aquatics division about the non family-friendly policy, and they have been met.

They have agreed to a policy of breastfeeding wherever/whenever in all city facilities, to educate staff immediately, to display the int'l breastfeeding logo at all pools and to cease "suggestions" from staff , providing information about the dangers of ingesting pool water only in written form.

We (The women directly affected by the initial situation) are satisfied with the city's response and feel as though we have made the positive change we were looking for. We are no longer going to be attending or encouraging any sort of Nurse-In at the Killarney pool as we feel it is not necessary or productive at this point.

Please spread the word, Thank you Calgary, for supporting women and babies!"

Way to go girls!!

This article ran across the country yesterday. Good comments from a Microbioligist and a rep of the Y.
