Body Hair...summer is coming :D

Hey Ladies!

So, I have lovely arm pit hair I ADORE! I've been growing it out for a few years now, I shaved once or twice last summer for our wedding and because I felt weird. I regret it now.

Anyways, this summer I also have leg hair to match, but would like to lighten it just a touch.

My leg hair is kind of dirty blonde and brown, different colours in different places. I'd like to maybe try hydrogen peroxide to lighten it. I'm thinking since it isn't dark it should take too much, or go too orange.

Anyone have success with this?
What strength of hydrogen peroxide did you use? I think there is 3% and 5% in the stores....

Thanks

Mostly, I am just bumping this for you.

I'm not sure, but I think hydrogen peroxide leaves white spots on skin. So, I would certainly try it, but try it in one spot for a week and see how it goes.

Well, I guess this is a bit of a bump.

I started with a 'test' patch on my inner ankle with 3% strength hydrogen peroxide. No negative reaction or scary orange anything...or anything really.

I apply it once per day lightly and use a blow dryer to dry. Haven't seen any lightening really, maybe a little bit. No skin discolouration either.

I've been using it as a mouth wash too! And my teeth are now really white DH is rinsing too and it is taking off all the coffee stains, so I am hopeful it will remove a few shades of leg hair

I've been using the peroxide for a couple weeks now and I'm really noticing a difference!

I pour a tablespoon or so into the palm of my hand and rub all over my lower legs. I think this would stop any noticeable skin lightening spots. It is hard to tell though since I'm really pale already.

All the light brown hairs are baby blonde and my darker hairs are getting lighter. Maybe like light-brown.

I let my legs air dry if possible or use a blow dryer if I need to put on clothing (worry about bleaching my clothes). It is working so well!

Great results thus far, wonder how to do the 'roots' when they grow in.

anyone ever try lemon juice and sunshine? we used to use it for highlights and lately i've wondered if it would work for leg hair....

sorry to be off subject, but i also read somewhere about using peroxide to whiten teeth and was excited to see that someone has tried it! do you use it full strength?

Full strength couple times per week. I wouldn't use it long term, but I haven't really found anything that says it causes harm.

I do a nice deep brush with toothpowder or just baking soda and then rinse well. Then use it full strength for a minute and rinse and I brush again with water cause it tastes funny. Not bad, just fizzy and funny. Like plastic almost

I put the legs in the sun whenever I can also, will try lemon juice when I run out of peroxide because we are moving and don't need another bottle to lug around.

I'm really pleased with the results. Weirdly the leg hair too time, but the teeth lightened really fast! Apparently it is a good mouth rinse because it kills bacteria, but again I'm not really using it for detal health, just my own selfish white tooth resires!

Have fun!

Huh, I am so glad I ran across this thread. This year will be the first year that I am planning to NOT shave my armpit hair. I am not brave enough to not shave my legs, but I do let them grow in the fall/winter/spring/non-shorts weather. I just CANNOT stand the stubble feeling after I shave my armpits. My hair is a lightish brown and grows relatively thinly in my pits. I think I may try using some peroxide on it to see what happens. If I can get it to a light blond, I will feel so much less self-conscious.

Thanks for sharing this idea!

Personally, I don't lighten it up at all, but I do like it when the sun does that for me.
