Baby names

Is it too early to talk names?
We've had our names set for a while, even before we were ttc. For a girl we love Marley Jane Marie (Jane Marie was my grandmother's name) and for a boy we like Dane Lee. Anyone else yet??

Nope not too early at all!!!

For a boy we will have Skyler Jeremiah (possible 2nd middle name) Pace.
For our girl we are thinking Sara Faith Marie Pace (But I think it might be too rhym-y) or Sara Noelani Raine Pace. Sara is set but middle names still a toss up ATM. It's not likely we'll have a girl anyway.

We're tossing around some names - Sky, Payden, Lauren, Meadow, Ethan. DD's name is River so I want to name this baby Sky. DH wants to name our next girl Terra but I'm not really fond of the name. I like the meaning but just not the sound of it.

We've been thinking of names for our children since before we even got close to wanting to TTC So far for a girl we've pretty much settled on Lumi Susanna. Lumi is a Finnish girl's name that means "snow" and Susanna is DP's sister's name. But for a boy we're still not sure. It's kind of a challenge because it has to be pronounceable in both English and Finnish, which is much more difficult for boys names I like Jesse, Sulo, or Valo though DP doesn't like the latter 2. The middle name is sure though, DP's grandfather's name: Kalle. For me though it mostly depends on what fits the child when it arrives.
Fun thread, I've always been really fascinated by names.

I have the same thoughts about Terra!

I am way more traditional (and Biblical in my name choices) but I love Meadow there is a beautiful little girl in Ds's pre-k with that name

If it is a girl it will eighter be Elizabeth <----- my favorite
Or Emily I love both. I am more into Elizabeth and he is more into Emily Buuuut I am carrying the baby for 9 months I think I can sway him I also like Isabella, and Mary (But Ds is Joseph)

For a Boy we really haven't talked about it yet as he is convinced it is a girl I said it is really all up to you!

I LOVE Gabriel he is not at all in to that name. I also like Samuel, Alexander, and LOVE LOVE Benjamin! But Gabriel is my fav. for a boy.

If DD had been a boy it would have been Jacob, but she was a girl so we went with Elizabeth (Libby.)

So if this baby is a boy I guess we could use Jacob, but I don't think Jacob and Elizabeth really go together.

If it's a girl, I like Emily, but DH hates it.

Dh has many Henrys in his family...I think we might lean towards that for a boy. No idea for a girl!

Lauren is on my list for a girl I also like Lenore, Elsa, Dell, Linnea, and Meredith (but our girl is Miriam, I'm worried that would sound too similar, and I would mix up their names!).

For a boy, I really wanted Anders last time, but dh LOVED a different boy name that I suggested, so he promised that the next boy could be Anders. But then we moved, and there is a 3 yo Anders at church. I also like Hyrum. I think we've run out of boy names. Oh, Oliver was on our short list last time, I still like that name.

I'm hopeless when it comes to names. Since DH is Chinese he'll pick out a Chinese name for our kid (I'll get veto power but I can't really pick Chinese names because the naming conventions here are sort of complicated). With DS, whose English name is Dylan and Chinese name is Chong Xiao, we ended up putting the Chinese name on his passport and birth certificate. Unfortunately there aren't that many names that work in both Chinese and English, and I'm not that fond of any of them, so we did two separate names.

For this baby if its a girl I like Annika and Maryam. For a boy I'm stumped, but maybe Nathan? A girl would have a Chinese name starting with Cui and another boy would have a name starting with Chong, like our son, so we just have to pick out two ending characters.

localdialect, my inlaws will be picking out our baby's Chinese name as is tradition in the family. I think the naming conventions are so interesting. DD's middle name is Pui-Yee, which means treasure.

DH says they need a Chinese name so he has something to call them when they get in trouble

If you have another daughter will her name start with Pui (what dialect does your husband's family speak? We speak Mandarin, so the spellings are a little bit different from yours I think)? Most traditional Chinese families have a generation name, our son's is Chong for boys, my husband's is Jia (the character for "home"). The naming conventions are interesting! People take great care to choose an auspicious name. One of the ladies in my neighborhood had a daughter about a month before my son was born and they actually went to a professional naming service and paid someone to concoct the perfect name for their child! When we had our son they asked how much we paid for his name and of course we didn't pay anything, my husband came up with it on his own and now he thinks he should maybe go into the baby naming business.

We are really stuck on boys names but DP says Charles or Charlie has to be one of the names for his grandfather. We were thinking Charles Israel because we both love Israel. I like alot of boys names but we can't decide. I have had girls names picked out for the past 10 or so years and I still haven't heard them but I have a funny feeling this might be a boy.
