PKU testing for newborns

Is it a law in these parts of the country?????

Someone said it is.

technically, here in maine, it is one of the tests mandated by the state. but all you have to do is sign a simple waiver declining it if you'd like to. no big deal at all to decline. i waived it for my son without a problem.
i guess it might depend on your doctor/pediatrician too and how comfortable they feel with it, in terms of any pressure they might give you. but ultimately, like anything, you can decline as long as you sign a waiver.

Ditto for NH... just need to sign the waiver.. I believe it is a "religious" exemption... don't believe they yet have a box for "philosophical objection". A couple of our clients declined last year with no problem.
