diapers stink!!

I have read about all the diaper stink promblems but i am not sure which one is mine I have been cloth diapering for about a month or so now. Ds is two yrs old ( and really should be potty trained instead but.....) My dryer went out the other day and i have been using my moms on the days i cannont hang them to dry. I have noticed they now smell when he pees in them. Its like a dead mouse smell and it makes me sick to smell it. I actually am using sposies right now until i get this taken care of. I started washing them with tide when i first got them then i switched to purex free and clear by a recommendation by someone on here. I dont know if its from the detergent, using my moms dryer which she uses dryer sheets, or something totally differnt! I am going crazy as to what to do to get this smell out!!! I am having DH get some dawn dish soap on his way home tonite but i dont know which way to strip them would be best. and also if it is this detergent then what do i use on them now??? TIA

Oh also i will probably use soapnuts from now on with them. Has anyone had any bad luck with them??

If your mom uses dryer sheets on a consistent basis that is probably doing something with your diapers, I know dryer sheets are bad and leave build up behind. Has anything else changed? His diet or anything? It sounds like you have build up, so stripping them would be your best bet.

I just used my moms dryer once with the diapers so i dont know if it would have done something to them in that one time. His diet has not changed. I will strip them tonite i guess but i am not sure which stripping method would be best since there is tons out there.

I've heard people have good luck getting rid of the stinky smell by soaking overnight in vinegar & oxyclean with just a bit of water. It makes a major fizzy reaction apparently, though.

I just hot washed with a tiny bit of dawn in the washer and i have done 5 rinses so far. I added vinegar to this last rinse and we are now suds free. I am going to use soap nuts from now on. The purex free and clear left so much residue. I only used 1/4 the amount too and it still happened!!! So i think i might be in the clear now. I am going to dry them overnight and see how they work tomarrow.Keep yall posted!
