Blocked Fallopian Tube

A friend of mine just found out this out. They diagnosed it as Endometriosis So I apologize if I don't get all the details correct, but I am looking for any information to pass on to her. In speaking with her doctor they advised her on two things. Either taking a heavy med w/ menopausal symtoms or IVF. She is a very natural minded spirit, so neither of these are very appealing. And the cost seems unbearable. She has been having acupuncture done regularly and now has added a progesterone cream at the advice of her ND. She is also looking into adoption.

My heart is breaking for her and I am looking for anything whether it is treatments, advice, stories to share, anything.

I know how your friend feels. Its a horrible situation she is in. I have both of my fallopian tubes blocked at the distal ends. I was give the option of IVF as my only option. I was told I can go back into surgery and try to repair the tubes. If I went the surgery route I would have about a 25% chance they would be repaired and plus they will close up pretty quickly if they did manages to "fix" them. Plus, we would be more at risk for ectopic pregnancy. So with these stats I decided to do IVF. I had a hard time about the whole situation that we finally decided to go with IVF. We wanted a baby so badly that we didn't care about the money or needles.

If I had to get my tubes repaired I was thinking about going to Chapel Hill in North Carolina where they specialize in TR. They have mentioned on their website that they can also fix damaged tubes also. So if this IVF failes I will go there for surgery.

Acupuncture can help but it depends on how much damage she has. AP takes a long time at least 6 months with dedication to many appointments, along with strong herbs. Most TCM say that blocked tubes are very hard to treat. They kind of agree that IVF is the best option for us.

Has your friend been diganosed via lap or HSG. How did they determine her tubes are blocked? If they are blocked near the entrance of the uterus this is usually very treatable but if the blockage is from the distal ends where the fingerlike threads are this is next to impossible to fix.

I hope this helps and you can ask me more about this. I might be able to help. I am going through this nightmare now.

I am sorry to hear that someone else is going through the same thing. But thank you for sharing part of your story. She had a test done with ultrasound and some dye. But I guess the dye never even registered. So I am assuming that would mean the end? I wish I would've asked more details. but I was already pushing the insensitive button far enough. I don't know enough about this all and would like to know more so I can be knowledgable and understanding of what my friend(s) is/are experiencing. I will talk to her about the surgery a little more.

I have endometriosis with both tubes blocked.
I was told that it would be nearly impossible to fix with surgery, and that IVF was my only option. That was 4 years ago when my first DS was 2 years old.

We have since had DS2 via IVF#1

we decided to try for #3 last fall.
IVF#2 was a BFN
IVF#3 was a success. I am currently almost 14 weeks pg w/ #3.

It was hard to come to terms with the desicion to try IVF. I wanted to be "natural" I wanted my body to work. I had to grieve it almost like a loss.... but then I realized that I am lucky this technology exists! So we went for it.. and though it is very emotionally draining to go through all the treatments required for IVF. The outcome- my healthy DS and hopefully healthy baby #3 are well worth it.
