Now that I've finally mastered putting on the sleep hood, how do I get it off once she wakes? With the elastic it's snug around her head, and I usually have to bend down and ask DS to do it, but he is a bit ungraceful and it makes her mad.

I just flip the straps over my shoulder and then pull them off/back gently, but I have a slightly older ergo where the hood straps thread through d-rings and snap back onto themselves.

As mentioned above, mine is older and maybe different than yours? My straps are long enough that I can grab them and pull them up (think jump-rope).

Well, there's a sort of criss cross motion you can do. Let me see if I can explain--it's been a long time since kiddo actually *slept* in the Ergo. Unloop both, but don't toss them back. Lift the left one back behind your head with your left hand. Reach back with your right and pull that one back and down, popping it off your little one's head. Sometimes you can even do it with the right strap in your hand, for a little extra pull.
My kid figured out how to push the loosened hood back pretty quickly.
