What a wonderful birth experience!!
At 1:30am on Friday April 3rd (one week before my official due date), my water broke. It actually started to leak (see thread...I think my water broke!). My contractions were far apart 20 min or so. I went to inform DH who was half asleep. He immediately bolted up wide awake.
We called the hospital where I would be delivering at and they basically told me the same thing I knew. To call them when the contractions were 5 min apart. I didn't want to have to wake our 5 1/2 year old son anyway and decided to wait it out at home.
At about 5:30 they were coming every 8 - 10 min. We called my MIL who lives down the street from us to let her know that we would be dropping off our son in an hour or so. At about 6:15 they were 5min apart. Off we went.
When we arrived at the hospital there were 3 other women there ready to be checked in. It was a very, very busy night in the maternity ward. They put me in a delivery room right away and we were assigned our labor nurse. The contractions were coming so fast by then and in a matter of 2 hours I went from 4cm to 10cm.
I was still on the fence about the epidural. I had one with my son, but I wanted to see if I could do this without anything. Well I guess the decison was out of my hands cause before I knew it I was 10cm and ready to push.
5 pushes and our beautiful daughter, Madelynn (Maddie) was born
She weighed 6lbs, 15oz. Her apgars were 9/9, measuring 20 inches long. She nursed within 2 min. of her birth and her latch was perfect. Nursed like a champ from the get go. We are so in love with her and are so blessed.
