Handmade dollhouse pics

Dh worked all month long on a dollhouse for dd3 (she turns 4 tomorrow).

Dh is not the greatest woodworker, but he worked really hard, and even with the minor oopsies, I think he did a great job.

He tried to follow the Seri's Dollhouse from Elves and Angels.

I told dh to leave the backside of the attic open to let in light from the bow window.

I need to get more 3 Beautiful Bees beeswax, but I covered the inside and roof with what I had left. I also told him he didn't need to put stairs in (I thought they'd be in the way and I was right).

What do you think?

Thank you. The girls were playing with it before school today.

I've been playing with it with the kids yesterday. It's been so much fun. And now there's tons of room to keep all the furniture in it. Before we had a Plan Toys dollhouse but all the furniture didn't fit and it was hard to reach all the areas. Now we can reach everywhere.

Now I just need to get dh to make this

It looks great! You DH did a great job. And I really like how the top is much more open.

Good luck on the play kitchen, I made one with my dad this past winter and it was fun to make one of our own.

Thank you everyone. I'm passing along the compliments to my dh. He worked so hard on this, and I know at one point he was about to give up because he's never really tried to make anything this nice before.

We came home from picking up dd2 from kindergarten and the two younger girls are playing sweetly together.

Now that the sun is out and the light is coming through the top, I really am glad I didn't have dh close it up. The potential is there for things to fall out the back, but so far, nothing has.

That is very adorable. I don't have an Ikea nearby, otherwise, that would be a very doable project.

I have got to get my dh to read these lovely reponses, but he's been so tired when he comes home from work lately....

Wow! I tink he did a great job with it! What a sweet Dad!

Here is a little something I'm working on but it hasn't evolved yet;
actually a few parts that might become a gnome home someday...

I'm making one of those too. I have the branches picked out.

That's great!
I just logged into this forum to get inspiration for building a dollhouse. We also have the Plan Toys house and it is dark, the furniture doesn't fit, and it is so closed off- it is hard to play in.

Anyway, tell your Dh he did a wonderful job!

Good luck with it.

I keep looking at the branches people cut off their trees and leave by the curbside...if I could just figure out what kind of trees they were, I'd take some of them home.

That is so cool! I love wooden dollhouses. :

I'm in process of making one!!! I shopped and shopped and kept finding bits that I liked about a bunch of them. So I designed my own based on elements from a couple that I really liked.

It's strongly based on this discontinued dollhouse. But with roofs more like Seri's Dollhouse.

Here's the cardboard proto-type.

And here's where we're at right now.

I've got a bit more learning to do. But I learned the trick to the windows today so I'm going to cut those out tonight. We're still trying to get the hang of the router. It's a little tricky. I've no doubt we'll get there eventually though!!
