A little birdie gave me an e-mail for who seems to be the regional VP at GWL. I just sent the person an e-mail and will update when I get information back.

They are chalking this one up to new staff improperly trained due to spring break. The reason they say anything is because they have to balance the needs of those who do not want their families exposed to bf'ing with those who bf.

It still irks me, because I don't think it is right. I am not happy with the response I got from the Assistant General Manager, either. If/when we do go back down there, I will make sure I carry Ohio's law with me, and also any Civil Rights decisions.

I will also contact the one organization. I have one from a long time ago (about 5 1/2 years...) with Golden Corral.

That is NOT a good enough answer.
Here is the e-mail and response I got from their competition ( THe Kalahari):.

Ok, got a response back a bit faster than I thought I would. I figured I probably would not hear from them until Friday, and was going to wait till Monday evening to shoot off another e-mail.

I will copy the e-mail I received. Although it is not a perfect response as we would all love, it is a great start and just needs minor improvement from them.

I still think it is uncool they ask the mother to cover up. I would use the free night then never give them my $$ again.

I am not a nurse-in expert by any means, but this seems to me like a situation that my deserve one. They are bsaically saying "yes you have a legal right to BF, but since we are being polite it is ok for us to ask you to cover up anyway.

Not cool.

I would let them know exactly that...thanks so much for their response, clearly they do care about nursing moms, however they may like to reconsider their policy in light of becoming more "breastfeeding friendly" and not discriminating against breastfeeding mothers. You could point out when other groups are discriminated against they person doing the discriminating isn't accomodated, it is called out as such.

Why don't they just do that in the first place and never ask the mother to cover up?

Just a heads-up-- posting private emails without the express permission of the author violates MDC's copyright guidelines. As a publication, Mothering tends to err on the side of caution when it comes to copyright concerns. I will PM the OP and ask her to please post a summary of the email.

As always, PM me with any questions or concerns.
