Family bed and vacations

We're living in France now, but this "problem" exist everwhere we go and I was wondering if you fellow family-bedders encounter the same problem. Maybe I should post this in the family-bed section: Anyway, here's what I'm wondering about:

We have a family bed. All five of us (42, 34, almost 5, 2.5 years old and one 9 month old) sleep in the same bed. Admittingly, it is a big bed, a queensize and two single beds together. we love it.

There is just one problem though: where do we go on trips? I have been searching the internet for nice vacation get aways to Corsica, to Normandy or the Netherlands. With an organisation or without, maybe with Club Med, to lodges, gites, hotels. But the same problem always rises: how are we going to sleep? We don't fit into one bed with all of us, a babybed and a single bed in the same room won't take care of the problem sufficiently and most hotels either don't have the space or they simply don't want to add two extra beds and a babybed. Not that we could use the babybed, really...

So how do you do it? Book two rooms and divide the parents and children between the two rooms? That's not a lot of fun, either, is it? Or do you book two rooms, drag the beds to one and the matrasses to the other and put everyone on the floor? Or do you know of any family bed friendly destinations in Europe or beyond I haven't found yet? I'm very eager to know!

Cheers and thanks!

in my experience, hotel rooms often have 2 queen beds. you could find a room with two queens and push them together.

We go camping. It's easy to fit a family bed in a large-sized tent

Book a family room - I've seen them advertised, and then push the beds together and then no one needs to know!!

www.logis-de-france.fr/uk/famille
... seem to advertise their "family sized rooms" on their website
but I've no idea what they mean by that; not all location have them ... you could inquire at one location that have them how big are their beds .....

Book a room with 2 doubles or 2 queens and push them together. It is usually cheaper than booking 2 rooms anyway. The only place I don't think this would work is on a cruise ship.

I just booked accom in Paris, 2 places in Normandy, and the Dordogne and with all I ended up renting an apartment/cottage/cabin (depending on the spot). We're 4 so we can do a big bed and a single, or we do 2 rooms and I sleep with the BF one while my husband sleeps with the other (this ends up happening at home sometimes too). I've booked family rooms in hotels before that were great when we were 3 but seem like a hassle for 4. I like space though.

heard some intersting info on the radio yesterday, but not time to check it yet

one is a website; www.avec-mes-enfants

the other one is a guide for children/their family called "graines de voyageurs"

they did mention at the beginning of the program how bothersome it is to find informations on family rooms & these two ladies interviewed were supposed to provide more family friendly infos than regular travel guides ....
