Frogging back mistake and putting bound off stitches back to life, help!

Ok so maybe knitting when one should be sleeping isn't the best idea, lol, but it's all I've got.

This is supposed to turn into a lesley sunsuit. First off somehow the beginning of the bib is way off, not centered. And the waist measures 25 inches unstretched, where my lo waist is about 18 inches. The ribbing isn't acting like ribbing. It's cotton, is that why? So I need to get those bound off stitches back on my needles in the round and frog back the ribbing I guess. It is 1x1 ribbing, would 2x1 ribbing bring it in smaller, or am I going to need to decrease somehow before ribbing? I don't mind not following the pattern from here, I was already going to change the bib part anyway to lace. Btw, how do I go about ripping it back?

Okay, watched the insert needle before frogging video on knitting help.com. Did that and bound off stitches came undone easily. Frogged back to before ribbing. Realized another mistake, why bib was off center, I was supposed to do 4 dec rounds total. Only did 1, duh! Guess I need to frog back quite a bit more. Rip it, rip it, rip it. Or maybe I'll just do a dec row or two now and change to smaller needles, do 2x2 ribbing and hope it isn't another waste of time.

Looking at the picture, it looks HUGE around the baby's waist. In your shoes, I'd probably take it back further, decrease more sharply in the back (to create almost a bustle effect, quite poofy over the bottom)- take more stitches out than the pattern says to, and let the front be. You could probably do that as knitting surgery with a crochet hook if you really wanted, but I would be inclined to frog it a bit more. I'd leave the 1x1 ribbing or possibly go with a twisted stitch rib or another decorative ribbing.

(eta, I'd also put a set of short rows in the back if your daughter wears cloth.)

Well I feel a bit better now, lol. I was doubting myself. Good to hear an experienced voice. Last night I did do more dec rounds in the back side only to leave the front flat, I was thinking just what you said having the back be a bit poofy. I did however leave near to the same stitches as the pattern called for, hope it was enough taken out. I did 2x2 ribbing with a needle size two smaller. Haven't yet bound off the back stitches. After I do that I will try it on her and we'll see if it cinched it in enough. Oh and I haven't done any short rows yet, but I'm thinking it is so big in the bottom it should be fine. Interesting that you can do 'surgery' with a crochet hook. I'll have to remember that as I seem to be mistake prone.

Ok had a chance to bind off the back ribbing last night and start the heart lace pattern bib (centered now) for it. My first attempt at lace. Tried it on dd today and boy was I relieved that it seems to fit ok. It would definitely need to be snugger on the waist if there wasn't going to be the straps buttoned to the back, but as is I think it will be ok. I need to learn how to do this short row thing! I'm really hoping it will be ok without it as it is loose, but things have a way of seeming totally different once they are seamed and done, lol. New pics if anyone is interested-
