wound..TIG...tetanus risk or not?

Dd fell today and her tooth went into her inner lip. It bled a tiny amount, BUT there is blood pooling under the skin trapped. I cleaned it with peroxide and it bubbled a lot. There is still blood trapped under the skin. So I know that puncture woods can be a tetanus risk. What should I do? There is a small flap of loose skin that would be hard to remove, but even if I did I don't believe it would release that blood and/or oxygenate that area. Once that blood dries will it be a tetanus risk? I'm guessing it will be like a huge blood blister, only in the mouth? Not sure how this will look healing up.

Hmm, sounds like TIG is some pretty nasty stuff. I'll have to research it some more. I'm not seriously considering it for this wound anyway, but should know this stuff. It isn't a pretty wound and I haven't found info to put my mind at ease that it wouldn't be a risk. Seems like blisters can be, but didn't find anything about blood blisters specifically. Only found one case of tetanus so far from a wound in the mouth and it was from a tooth extraction. I'm really not sure if I should get rid of the little skin flap or not. If it wasn't in the mouth I know I would. I have done this numerous times for my own wounds and my older two kiddoes. This skin is so moist it is different. Surely children have been enduring this specific type of wound since the beginning of humankind?

I wouldn't worry at all.

Honestly, I'd only consider TIG for a child in the case of a traumatic crushing injury (think car accident) or severe burn over a large area.

From my reading today I'd say I agree with you, especially the horse kind. I did find a bit of info in a very old medical paper stating that it could actually cause the disease. I think I'll start a separate thread asking about that. I'll be digging around for more info to confirm or refute it.
