Hard water help me find a good detergent

Up until a few months ago I had only had problems with my HH's getting stinky. We moved to an area with very hard water and now all of my diapers are ammonia smelly. I use Nature Clean liquid.i have stripped several times and it just keeps coming back.

I went to my parents place and they don't have hard water and i stripped my diapers and used Arm and Hammer Essentials unscented and no ammonia smell!

So I bought some Arm & Hammer and I am stripping as we speak and I am crossing ym fingers it works this time.

Just in case it doesn't can people with hard water experience give me some ideas on what I can use. I can't really afford Charlies for all our clothes but any other ideas would be great.

Charlie's really isn't that expensive. Last time I figured it out, it was $0.18/load. That's what we use and we have hard water. When I wash diapers, I add 1/4 capfull of liquid Calgon, too. Our clothes are cleaner/softer than before, and I haven't had any problems with diapers.

We have really hard water here too... we use Calgon and 2 tbsp of Country Save and haven't really had any stinkies since we switched.
