Blackout fabric for curtains

I just bought some blackout fabric for some simple baby room curtains I am going to make. The fabric is 70% Polyester 30% cotton and says dry clean. What would happen to the fabric if I washed it? I would really like washable curtains! I may just have to make a removable curtain liner if the fabric is going to fall apart.

I've washed my blackout fabric with no trouble and there is technically no reason why a poly/cotton fabric should not be washed. I'd take a piece of it and serge (or stitch) around it and toss it in with a load of clothes to test it. If it comes through ok, then pre-wash the whole thing to avoid shrinkage later.

Good to hear the blackout fabric didn't fall apart after washing.
Thanks!
