I just got my day 23 progesterone results back...7.5. The doc said it is "on the low side" and they will probably increase my Clomid this upcoming cycle. I have been on 50mg, days 5-9 for the last 4 cycles. My progesterone levels have always come back good--usually in the high 20's. Once I had a 30.5!

I know many of you have already been there, done that, so I'm hoping for suggestions to why the sudden change? Is Clomid not working for me anymore? Could I just be ovulating irregularly? I'm just interested in hearing your stories and any advice you've received. My direction is to call my doc when AF arrives so I can an increased Clomid dose and get my ovaries poked again. I'm feeling kinda anxious here and don't know what this means. I just want to cry now.

Hmmm...that's interesting. Each cycle I was on clomid my progesterone increased, the first one was kind of low around 10 (that cycle I had a very short LP). So it may just mean your cycle was just a little wacky. I just realized my first cycle I did 5-9, but then they switched me to 3-7.

Sorry, I guess I don't have any advice, but I don't think it sounds too crazy. There is still so much about our cycles that they can't explain...

My progesterone level while on clomid is always low, even on higher doses. In my case, it does not "fix" the progesterone problem at all. My level has been as low as 4.9 while on 100mg, and in that case, I carried Riley to 12 weeks (chromosomal problem) So, that being said, it is definitely possible to still conceive despite a low p4 level. I finally saw an RE abou this when ttc dd2, and he suggested prometrium (300mg/day vaginally) from O. That solved the problem, and I conceived and it stuck with no spotting the very next cycle. We jumped straight to that this time, and it only took 3 months of trying to conceive this bug, rather than the 13+ for my last daughter.

Good luck, and don't count your ovaries out yet.

Thanks for the info ladies. It's good to know that it is still possible to conceive...I was really wondering if my ovaries are gearing up to poop out on me. I am getting close to that "advanced maternal age."

Maybe increased Clomid and progesterone will help next cycle???

Seemed a good place to tell you a "funny" clomid story... I have been stressed out with secondary infertility (my son is 5 and I have never gone back on birth control since) and at work and some personal stuff (like my 40th birthday looming). Anyhow I have just been a mess. I realized on day 3 I had taken 2 clomids!! I brought one to have at lunchtime and must have forgotten and taken another at home!!! I am such a dunce sometimes. Anyhow I dont' really know how it will affect this cycle, but my dr. only wanted me to be on it for 3 mos and this is the last month. I was pretty heartbroken for a few days but now that I am heading towards ovulation (a + POS today and bd immediately after) I can be positive for antoher few weeks... wish me luck.

Hahaha! Maybe that extra Clomid was the kick you needed!?! I sometimes have to remind myself that I've already taken my Clomid and actually count the pills I have left! I hope this is the month for you!!
