Question on Hib dose

I always thought that after 15 mos. your child would only need one dose of hib. I found this on the acthib website and am more confused now:

>Indication and Usage

ActHIB vaccine is indicated for active immunization of infants and children 2 through 18 months of age for the prevention of invasive disease caused by H influenzae type b

Dosage and Administration1

The number of doses of ActHIB vaccine indicated depends on the age at which immunization is begun. A child 7 to 11 months of age should receive 2 doses at 8-week intervals and a booster dose at 15 to 18 months. A child 12 to 24 months of age should receive 1 dose and a booster dose 2 months later.<

The first part makes me think that it is really geared toward 18 months and younger. The second part makes me think that if you give it at 12-24 months, you would need 2 shots. Also, does this mean you don't need it after 24 months? I am not sure I am going to do this vaccine, but if I did, I was thinking that I wanted this brand since it doesn't have aluminum.

This is from the manufacturer...the catch up schedule from the CDC differs and states that no further doses are needed if the 1st dose if given after 15 months of age.

Makes you wonder why reccomendations are so different

Well, that is strange! I would think the manufacturer would know more how their product works and how many doses would be needed to produce immunity. I wonder if there are studies showing the % of immunity after just one dose in a toddler? Is it really enough? How did the CDC come up with that?
