I always thought that after 15 mos. your child would only need one dose of hib. I found this on the acthib website and am more confused now:
>Indication and Usage
ActHIB vaccine is indicated for active immunization of infants and children 2 through 18 months of age for the prevention of invasive disease caused by H influenzae type b
Dosage and Administration1
The number of doses of ActHIB vaccine indicated depends on the age at which immunization is begun. A child 7 to 11 months of age should receive 2 doses at 8-week intervals and a booster dose at 15 to 18 months. A child 12 to 24 months of age should receive 1 dose and a booster dose 2 months later.<
The first part makes me think that it is really geared toward 18 months and younger. The second part makes me think that if you give it at 12-24 months, you would need 2 shots. Also, does this mean you don't need it after 24 months? I am not sure I am going to do this vaccine, but if I did, I was thinking that I wanted this brand since it doesn't have aluminum.
