Just bought my dream machine!

I just purchased my very own Singer 500 Slant-o-matic Rocketeer! I am so excited. Is this not the most beautiful sewing machine you've ever seen?

I've been trying to wait until I could find one at a garage sale or thrift store, but I decided I'd rather spend the time it would've taken to track one down on sewing and gardening. And I'd probably have spent the money I'd have saved on lots of stuff I didn't need in the process. That's the story I'm giving dh.

cool! I had one for a short while (my main machine is a 501 that was my grandmother's) but sold it to get a German 430 that has a free arm. I love how cool the Rocketeer looks but I couldn't justify keeping it when the new one did the exact same stiches.

enjoy!

What a beauty! You'll want to sew every day!

I only have eyes for my 319K though.:

Thanks ladies! : I knew I'd find some mamas here who are passionate about their machines.

As it turns out, my Singer 457 has been behaving perfectly since I purchased the new machine. Maybe she'll be on her best behavior now.

If you ever need to take the tension apart, there is a file in the Yahoo Vintage Singer file section showing how to do that. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vintag...guid=383238026 gotta join the group, but if you ever need any questions answered about your machine you should find the answer there, a great group of knowledgeable sewing machine folks.

Happy Sewing!

Thank you! Another mdc mama recommended the group to me a few weeks ago when my 457 was driving me crazy, so I joined. In fact, it was a member of the Vintage Singer group who helped me figure out what my ideal sewing machine was. I also joined Singer Slant Sewing.
