Potty Learning...

Thread Starter
So DS is going to be 3 in 3 weeks. I put him on the potty before bath time the other day, and he finally pooped!!! I'm very excited at the idea of not having double diaper duty anymore! So since Monday he has been wearing underwear instead of diapers, and pull ups at night. I heard him say "my peepee is broken," a couple times today yesterday. He also said it hurt once. It doesn't seem to look any different, the foreskin is always a bit pinkish/ red. Is it maybe because he's touching it more? I haven't been putting pants on him, just underwear, so he has a lot easier access than he previously did. Should I be concerned? We are taking him to the bathroom very frequently, so even if he does have an accident, he isn't wet for very long. Trust me, I have never had a second thought about leaving him intact, so you don't need to talk me out of that. I just thought this would be the best place to go to find out info about an intact penis(for some reason, my husband likes to act like he doesn't know what it's like to have one!!!). LOL TIA!

Next time he says his peepee is broken, ask him what he means exactly.
Has his foreskin started to retract yet? A little bit of pain could be minor separation pain from that. He is still urinating okay, right?

It could be that the sensation of the loose underware compaired to a diaper is causing him to be more aware of the area. Ds did ever complain of pain but he sure fiddled with it a lot more once he was in underware.

My 2yo DS has recently potty trained, and I have noticed him playing with his penis a lot more (probably the easy access thing, as he's also naked/undies only a lot). He talks to me about it sometimes, although he has not said that it hurts.
The separation seems like a likely thing.
Another thing that you might consider (assuming that you've ruled out actual infection etc)...my DS is in the stage where he is convinced the kisses solve everything. For personal areas like that, I put a mommy kiss on his hand, and let him put the kiss on the hurting place He says it helps

It might be that he sat on the potty, but no pee came out. Or, Could just be that he's getting erections and is more aware of them in underwear than he was in diapers.
