Overnighting in cloth

My DD is almost 6 months and we've been cloth diapering since the beginning with prefolds and stacinator wool covers mostly, with a few Bummis SSWs as well. We haven't found an ideal night-time solution though. We have a couple of bumgeniuses a friend gave us that I've been using at night, but they leak around the leg holes sometimes.
What do you do for overnight? I 'd love some ideas.
DD is a pretty skinny thing, about 14 lbs, with thinnish thighs. We prefer natural fibres, but are open to trying anything.
Thanks!

Hi! The Stacinators aren't quite as think as an Aristocrats or Disana cover (pull up). If you have the older style (days) it's single thread - the newer da/nights have double and would do better but still not as thick from what I remember. A prefold with a smaller prefold (infant and newborn maybe) should do the trick. If that's too bulky - try a prefold and a flat or a prefold and a hemp doubler or microfiber one.

I would try something like a wool pull on like Disana, Aristocrats or ...... with more absorbency underneath. If you don't want a pull on - there are wool covers w/gussets like Imse Vimse wool bumpy - has this pocket between the 2 layers of wool - I'm not sure what it is for but I stuck a double in there and had no problems w/ leaking.

My youngest is a light-weight, too (19 months old and not yet 20lbs-- but average height, which makes for chicken legs). The best diaper at night for her is a SMALL fuzzi bunz w/ 2 inserts. Even though she should *technically* be in mediums, the leg openings in the smalls are a better fit.

I know they're not natural fiber, but I figured I'd throw it out there as what works for us anyway.

I often use a pocket at night with a combo mf/hemp insert....or a Sugar Peas 2-size hemp fitted. The sugar peas are nice because they are very absorbant, yet relatively trim. And they come in 2-sizes so they fit better than a one-size but you don't have to buy a million sizes...

We like a really big fitted, with extra absorbency added into it. DS right now sleeps in a Very Baby Simply Nights (hemp), with the extra snap-in doubler in addition to the ordinary one, with a premium prefold also folded inside of it, all under a Disana or handknit doubleknit wool. I've also been known to fold two premium prefolds into a Motherease onesize, and then put wool over it.

I think a TON of absorbency under wool is the most leakproof option. We used to use pocket diapers at night, but once my kids get to about 18 months, they wet so heavily at night that I just cannot get enough stuffing in the diaper to last all night, no matter how much I cram it in.

You can also try putting wool OVER an overstuffed pocket diaper.

But I agree with the PP that pull-on wool, especially bought big and felted a bit, will hold a lot more than a Stacinator. You need something long in the leg.

We use a bumgenius 3.0 with two inserts, which lasts a full 12 hours overnight with no leaks.

I am also a fan of the pull-on wool over a super absorbent diaper. I use GMD prefolds, and DD is currently wearing a blue-edge as her regular daytime diaper. At night, I take a red-edge (next size up) layered with a blue-edge and I stick a hemp soaker in between the two, put a thin fleece liner on top so she feels drier, pin it, and cram her fat butt into an Aristocrat soaker

This works well for us right now, though I'm okay with a little dampness beneath her in the morning, which happens pretty frequently. It's not leaking, it's just the wool becoming saturated from the soaked diapers. She sleeps on a towel anyway, and it's never soaked through the towel.

I do think once the dampness becomes more consistent I'll need to figure out a more absorbent diaper to go beneath the wool, but I'll always use the pull-on soaker as the nighttime cover. It never leaks b/c of the design - thick cuffs on the legs - and I think it's the softest and most comfortable for her, plus it's breathable which helps prevent rashes.

We use Crickett's stuffed with an additional hemp soaker all under an Aristocrats. Natural fibers, and works great.

FB with hemp and microfiber inserts, triple stuffed.

We use a onesize diaper with a hemp and micro insert and then a wonder wrap onesize cover over it and have no leaks.

We use either a bumGenius or Fuzzi Bunz with a greenhorn Sleepytime insert. No wet jammies and sheets in this house!

Thanks for all the responses. I guess I just have to get creative with my stuffers and try a few things out. And try a felt-ier wool cover with some length to it.
Do you notice that your LO's legs stick out to the side a lot with a super stuffed diaper? Does it bug them? When I put a really big dipe on her, she kind of looks like a frog!

I've only had luck with pocket diapers at night. Fuzzi bunz stuffed with joey bunz worked perfectly for super soaker DS1 and DS2 wasn't as much as a heavy wetter so he could get by with a double stuffed bumgenius.

My favorite diaper for night is a Happy Heinyz pocket diaper stuffed with a hemp soaker and a microfiber insert. Haven't had a leak yet!

We just used an extra prefold at night. Both Stacinator and Bummis are roomy enough for this.

We do the same. Just the regular insert plus the doubler. We haven't had a leak yet.

I have a 6 week old and use BG with both the inserts that it comes with.. works fine!

We use sustainable baby-ish fitteds, they'r hemp+organic cotton http://www.sloomb.com/cart/index.php...&products_id=1

and on the outside we use Sugar Peas wool or fleece covers. We rarely have leaks. We don't really need to double up with anything like the previous posters have said, but the baby sure if soaked when we get up in the morning, so I guess the diaper-system is working.
