Okay, now I'll really get out of your thread! Sorry for the hijack .
Mwahahaha! Ladies, do you think she's hooked yet? It'll be no time at all, Wendy, before you're staying up all night feverishly reading fan fictions. See, they reel you in and then you don't realize till too late that this story is actually novel length. Just one more chapter!

Plus, if I had to ship Sev, it'd be with Lily. How hard did I cry reading "The Prince's Tale" in DH? OH. MY. GOD. Yeah, and he's too old. It's like shipping Lupin/Hermione or Sirius/Pansy. Blech.

Oh, I am such a dork but it's nice to be in good company
JKR would be pleased and relieved. She never meant for women to be all swoony over Snape.

I : Snape.

Annettemarie, can we get away with posting The Nakic Quidditch Match? I loved this one.

the title change!

I'll have to double check with abimommy and Irish (ah, good times!) but I think that if it's tasteful, it's OK. We've had threads in books about erotica and the like before. It's kind of like the supreme court definition of porn-- I can't give an exact definition, but I know it when I see it.

I won't like to mine directly because I have heart attacks thinking of church members finding it.

This reminds me of something I read in the Uncyclopedia about the Twilight books once:

It follows a plot a lot like some [crap] you might find on fanfiction.net (ran through spellcheck, and removed of all offending sex scenes) making it a highly effectual porn substitute for lonely emo teenage girls who would otherwise feel threatened by the explicit nature of usual fan fiction

Ambystoma - I HATE original characters... usually. There are 2 exceptions because they weren't main characters/love interests and were absolutely hilarious and well-written.
Original characters are almost always Mary Sue's.

Well then she shouldn't have let them cast Alan Rickman, now, should she?

In general, I would say if it's on ff.net it can be posted. They don't allow anything too explicit, do they?

And I forgot how freaking hilarious that one was!

When you're a RW/HG,
You're a RW/HG all the way
From your first chocolate frog
To your last dyin' day.

When you're a RW/HG,
If the U No Poo hits the fan,
You got Weasleys around,
You're a family man!

You're never alone,
You're never disconnected!
You're home with your own:
When company's expected,
You're well protected!

Then you are set
With a capital W,
Which you'll never forget
Till they cart you away.
When you're a RW/HG,
You stay a RW/HG!

Go Daddy-O!

===============

[sung in baritone]

You are eighteen and conveniently out of school
Baby, it's time to think
Better beware, be canny and careful
Baby, you're on the brink

You are brilliant and Ron is conveniently dead
Fellows will fall in line
Eager young lads, death eaters and cads
Will offer you food and wine

Totally unprepared are you
To face a world of men
Timid and shy and scared are you
Of things beyond your ken

You need someone older an wiser
Telling you what to do
I am thirty nine going on fourty
I'll take care of you

Are you gagging yet? This was my favorite ship.

Exactly, but she never intended anyone to swoon over Draco either and that ain't a stoppin' this love train over here. HA HA HA.

I do love Snape, as a character. I think he is one of the most well-written and well-rounded characters I have ever had the priveledge to read. That being said, I want nothing to do with his love life. LOL.

journeymom - Your song would sound better if you replaced RW/HG with it's proper name - "Heron"

Tell me about it! Now, because of that, I love the character in the book, and the movies in 2 completely different ways...*Alan Rickman swoon*...

She didn't just "let" them cast him-that's who she wanted! Because they offered it to someone else first. I think she just wanted to confuse all us non-teenage ladies who would be more likely to have crushes on him from Sense & Sensibility, etc.

Meanwhile, I was tempted back into searching new fanfic for a few last night. Then I just decided to start re-reading HBP again before the movie comes out.

OMGosh, it's like a reunion!

OK, I checked and the good news is, we no longer mod links, so rec away. Just remember we don't allow discussions of explicitly sexual material here on MDC.

OMG, I haven't posted here in forever!

*waves*

OK, I seriously have tears in my eyes. For real. Because I am a dork, and because I love you all, and because I am just incapable of posting at multiple sites.

Ahhh, OK, this morning I figured it out. I thought Dudley was unlikely, but I was drawing a blank, and then in the shower it hit me--D is Dumbledore, which is really disturbing. I can see why it has to be impeccably written. OK, Draco, makes soooo much more sense. The one fanfic I read was a Draco/Harry ship and it was really good, but I like a little more vagina in my relationships.
viola, do you rememebr which harry/draco you read? that's my primary ship.

H/D here as well!

I don't think there's a writer out there who could successfully pull that off. ICK ICK ICK.

As for H/D... I may have dabbled... Actually, I read one a couple months back that had me crying.

I do appreciate a good D/H/Hr too...

Disclaimer - I don't think I read any "clean" fics. They just don't seem to be written as well. At least, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Oh, and nice new title.

OMG, you ladies might be the new bane of my husband's existence! I just read The Nake Quidditch Match and I was HOWLING! My first fanfic read. But I'm a serious dork-in-training, being a sci-fi geek and attender of related conferences.

More! More! More recommendations! Completed, preferably.

S'been done [DD/Hr that is]. [where DD=Dumbledore and Hr, obviously, Hermione, just so we're clear ]

Not saying I enjoyed reading it, but it has been done.

I'm a SS/Hr shipper myself, but read a lot of H/D cuz there just isn't much good SS/Hr out there.
