do you have a stroller/do you use it? - Page 2

Nope. Now that he's 14 months old, people are CONSTANTLY trying to give them to me and it's really getting on my nerves! I know from experience that i don't use them and they take up so much space!

I'm car light and was car-free with his sibs, and it is so much easier and less hassle to put my packages in a folding shopping cart and cuddle the kid than to put the kid in a stroller and cuddle my purchases.

ds has a different father and is already bigger than his sibs so I splurged on some nice but not cheap GSW woven wraps. How funny to see people running after me with $10 umbrella strollers and "I'm doing my good deed for the day" smiles on their faces! I've found that the best way to handle it is to cut them off abruptly with a "don't have any use for it myself BUT" and then start raving about various local charitable organizations who could take it off their hands.

I am a huge fan of babywearing and while I was pregnant I had all these visions of happily wearing dd in a variety of carriers. Unfortunately she grew into an enormous baby (18 lbs at 4mo) and I cant really wear her on my hip yet and I dont have a back carrier. I wore her in a wrap when she was younger (lighter) and now I sort of stuff her in the New Native when I need to with her fat legs sticking out.

I took a mile long walk a month or so ago with dd in a front carrier and I almost collapsed. I couldn't even push dd1 in the stroller b/c I had to support dd2 with my hands as well.

My mom just got me a sit n stand (because dd1 is almost 4) and I have used it a few times and it is from heaven. I love babywearing and I am committed to it but you also have to do what works for you.

I have an stroller in the attic, lol. We bought the stroller when we have DD ,almost 4 years ago. She did not like and after a few months, she just went in the Ergo. When DD was a year old, she started to walk and she loves going in the Ergo for longs walks or hiking. Now DD (3 1/2 yo) going in the Ergo with DH for hiking (sometimes) and DS (8 mo. and 20 lbs) in any other carrier (MT or Wrap in the back). We don't like carry stuff around, usually just an extra diaper (we EC),that's all.

I love babywearing but with the back pain I have and my huge babies I could not do it once they were walking. I have a double jogging stroller and we use it constantly. I love it!

We have a few strollers...never use 'em. My DD's take 'em outside to play with sometimes though.

We have a stroller we got as a gift for my first BB's babyshower. We use it to lug stuff around on long trips liek to the zoo but not as a child carrying device...I wear one and my husband wears the other. Thats the way that it works for us. We have used the stroller maybe 5 or 6 times in 2 and a half years.

thank you so much for answering, you gave me a lot to think about!

Are you in any hurry for it? Could you wait to see if you need it? I think we try so hard to figure out what we need ahead of time and then when the time comes, it doesn't work. I am babywearing much more this time around, but I am starting to have a hard time, b/c he is so big(24# at 5 months) and I am thinking about yet another carrier. I have 3 carriers(New Native, Maya Wrap, Moby), 3 strollers(travel system-which I am going to sell soon, umbrella, and then I bought a used Bumbleride which I absolutely love!).

I think my point is, you do not know how things are going to go when dc arrives. How will your older dc react to a new dc? Maybe a stroller with a place for older dc to stand would be a good idea. Will dc be big or small, want to be upright(this is how my ds is from day 1, no cradling in a sling), plus how will you feel with your carriers? When I go shopping for longer periods of time, I like to have a little freedom to bend over, look at things, etc. I feel like it gives me a little space as having 2 children needing me so much can be hard on me emotionally. I admire people who wear their babies all the time, I thought I would as well. But, I am so grateful I have a stroller.

I think this is what I'm going to do. I really hate being wasteful, after my ds's first year I've got so much baby gear/stuff, and haven't even bought them, I got them from friends. I tried to give them to pregnant friends, I thought I wouldn't be able to get pregnant soon.
Thanks for posting

Same here! Baby in wrap or MT, DD in stroller or running!

I don't live in a stroller friendly city. Isabella is 6 months old and never been in a stroller.

hardly use mine...

Strollers... ahhhh, the money that could have been used elsewhere for us!
My DD is 8.5 months old and still has no desire to be pushed in a stroller. We have two good (and way too expensive) strollers to push our little princess around in but she will have none of it! Instead, she loves her Ergo or one of the ring slings or wraps for getting around.

We also have cold and snowy winters in my part of the world and I used a carrier with a babywearing coat (Suse's Kinder Coat) for our winter outings.

As DD keeps getting heavier (around 21.5 lbs now), I am hoping that she will take more to the strollers but as it stands, I will take her out in one for a walk and invariable need to pop her into a carrier (which I ALWAYS bring along as well) for the return trip home.

If I were to do it again, I would stick with just a carrier (with babywearing coat for winter) for the first year and then trial some strollers once babe is older. I have my fingers crossed she will like her Chariot as I'm hoping to use that for doing bike rides once she turns 1 year old.
