They didn't circ!

One of my dearest friends is very, VERY, mainstream - but we're very close - and just accept our different parenting styles for what they are.

When I found out they were having a boy my heart sank a little. I just KNEW they were going to circ. I tried to broach the subject gently - by talking about how easy it was with out son intact. OUr experiences telling hospital staff over and over , and OVER again that we weren't going to circ.

But I just knew they were going to circ that precious little baby boy.

And then - much to my surprise - I found out the day after he was born that they DIDN"T DO IT!

Yay! You did that little baby a big favor! Your friends might not have considered the subject until you brought it up casually and non-confrontational. Way to go!

Congratulations!!! Thank you for speaking up! Making the world a more peaceful place one voice at a time.

Great! You sound like my dd. She gives every pregnant friend a book about circumcision (anti-circ) and is soo happy when the book brings positive results. But of course most are not positive. But she never gives up.

Not to rain on your parade but did they actually tell you they were leaving him intact? I'm only asking because maybe they are waiting for a separate appt. with the pediatrician. A woman I know waited 2 weeks after her son was born to have him circd.

I hope you are right!

Yes...she told me they are leaving him intact.

She wanted to circ - her husband didn't. Which surprised me. I told her she would be happy with her decision long term - and if she had any questions she could ask me.

Great news!

Just please make sure they know about NO ONE retracting the baby (doctors, babysitters, etc) so the little guy can remain intact!:
