Any one else love Deadliest Catch?

Just a reminder that the new season starts Tuesday, April 14th at 9. I can't wait!

I do!

I posted about Deadliest Catch before.

DH is a huge fan of the show and he got me interested in it. Of all the adrenaline rush shows on TV now, and a lot of them are copycats of Deadliest Catch, this one is the best.

They make a good amount of money but the conditions are so brutal. I was jokingly telling DH that he should take a hiatus from his white collar office job during the opilio crab season to go up to Alaska. He could make $40k to $70k for the season.

I go back and forth........

My husband is a commercial fisherman -not alaska, but not much safer. I sometimes find myself watching it when he is offshore and then I realize it is stressing me out so I change the channel. On the other hand it is nice to see our little slice of life represented in popular culture since I usually feel like no one understands.

I LOVE this show. My whole family gets obsesssed when there's a new season. My parents, my sibs, we all watch it.

Is anyone watching still?

Tonight's episode had me bawling my eyes out.

Yep, we still watch Deadliest Catch. Still one of my favorite shows on TV. Didn't the season end? Is this a new episode or a rerun?

Its opelio season, one of the deck hands wife called to let him know that another deck mate ,and his friend on the boat, that his sister passed away. So it was very sad to watch, they obviously didn't show footage of him telling him but there were audio clips.

Did you see After the Catch?

Sig talked about how he had already turned the boat towards home even before the kid said he wanted to go home.

The Time Bandit guy (the one without the goatee) said something like "I wouldn't have told him, I would have waited until we were unloading." Meaning he would have put the boat and money over the kid's need to get home for the funeral.

Sig slapped (figuratively) him down and shamed him into saying he shouldn't have said that.

I heart Sig!

Oh that is sad. Poor guy.

I like Sig. He's got a quick temper but deep down he has a good heart.

We watch the show every week - Sig really surprised me this week. He seems like such a tough guy but after this last episode I see that he is a true softee at heart!

I have bought my hubby seasons 1-4 on DVD and we both have it on our iPods!

I love Deadliest Catch. The Northwestern is my favorite boat. I love Sig, but honestly Edgar is my favorite. Did you see the After the Catch 2 weeks ago when he re-proposed to his wife?

I was totally crying when poor Jake found out about his sister.

I like the Cornelia Marie a lot too. Phil is a lot like my dad with lots more tattoos and profanity.

My family says Keith reminds them of my husband. *L

Well except Keith is bigger and curses more.

I like Sig, he does drive his guys pretty hard but he does take care of them.

I was a little surprised Andy said he wouldn't have told him

Really? I am sooo curious - which guys does he know (if you don't mind) - my sister just adores Jake but I can't pick just one favorite!

Funny, I'm watching right now. It's our new thing, dh is totally hooked. I know these guys are making a lot of money, but damn, that's some crappy work. I feel guilty about eating crab now.

We never miss it!

Dp swears he has heard the only way those guys stay up for such long stretches is with drugs.

I checked out the Time Bandit book from the library (yeah...well ) and in it they talked about getting groceries and they had an entire grocery cart full of energy drinks.

How in the world is it that I am *just* now finding this thread? DH and I have been watching from the beginning.

I adore Capt. Phil. He and my Dad could have been brothers. Watching him makes me feel like my chain smoking, yelling, yet quite loving Daddy is still with me. I about lost it when he got sick and could have died. My heart sank to my feet.

And the guys on the Time Bandit...Jonathan kills me. That truck gag they pulled on Phil was way cool.

I just want to hug Sig...the man has class.

There's a Time Bandit book? I didn't know that.
Guess what one of DH's Christmas presents this year will be.

My two favorite boats are the Northwestern and the Cornelia Marie. The Time Bandit is ok. I'm not a big fan of the Wizard. Not sure why. I'm just not.
