No doubt, I am so thankful that we managed to get this baby into the world safely. She might have been okay coming out the usual way, but I really think this ended up being one of those situations where medical intervention is warranted.

River and I are still doing well, but we had a difficult day last Monday. We went to the pediatrician first thing in the morning for her first post-hospital checkup. He heard a heart murmur that hadn't been there when he checked at the hospital. He made an appt for us to take her to a pediatric cardiologist that same afternoon. They did a bunch of tests on her (including an ultrasound that lasted forever--she screamed through the whole thing even with her dad and me both doing everything we could to comfort her). Turns out that she has a congenital heart defect but it is very unlikely that it will cause any serious problems. There's a good chance it will fix itself by the time she's six. For now we just have to keep an eye on her and take her back to the cardiologist in a month. So, it was pretty scary, but once again I find myself being so thankful for modern medical technology, because even if this heart defect does cause problems for her, they will be able to fix it.

I am so head over heels for this baby.

Sending you some big hugs and lots of prayers for baby River!! When you first hear that something could be wrong with your baby it's just devastating. With DS #1 we were told he had cystic fibrosis when he was 5 days old. Without a doubt the biggest blow we've been dealt in life. Luckily it turned out similar to your situation. He has CF but it's very mild and may not effect him very adversely at all. So far he's been pretty darn healthy. Praying for the same for River- that although she has a heart issue- it will be mild and will correct itself!!! Take care and hug that baby of yours!!!!!

I hear ya mama, they think mine has one too! Modern meds are a BLESSING in when it comes to things like this!!!! Im SOOOOO thankful that she has one that can be left alone and is fixable if not. :::

Enjoy your baby and try not to worry too much! ( I know its hard.)
