His penis hurts...

all the time. He tells me at least 10 times a day that it hurts and he is constantly messing with the area through his dipe. He is still in diapers, disposable, same as since he was born. I haven't noticed any redness, except when he has his morning potty time/play with penis time
Could it be when he gets an erection it pushes on his diaper? I just don't know! We went to a friends for easter yesterday and I finally noticed how much he complains about it.
Any ideas?

Could be that he is getting erections and doesn't recognize the feeling so he says it "hurts".

Also could be normal separation of the foreskin happening now that he is self-exploring. This is a common time for that to start happening.

Ds1 started complaining that his penis hurt around the time his little brother was born. I chalked it up to an attention getting ploy and more or less dismissed it after a cursory examination.

When he didn't stop complaining, I took a closer look. I gently coaxed his foreskin backwards so I could see the opening (I didn't retract him nor did I try to, just sort of let his foreskin go back as far as it naturally would). When I did, I found a small tear near the opening. I suspect this was from too much rough play. I put a little barrier cream on it and instructed him to be more gentle in the future and this seemed to help.

Yikes! Poor guy! I may give it a good, gentle once-over tonight.

Well, I haven't mentioned this because of lack of anonymity, but my 2yo DS complains that his penis "hurts" when he is diapered and has an erection. So we open the diaper and he's perfectly fine and happy to play. I've moved to two-piece pajamas for ease of removal now, as it seems to be an evening/before bed issue.

I certainly wouldn't manipulate his foreskin at all. If he were to continue claiming it hurt after being freed, I'd let him soak in the bath awhile, but he never does. I think his vocab is just limited and that his night-stuffed diaper + an erection contribute to a rather uncomfortable sensation.
