stripping diapers?

Recently, dd's poor bum has been super dry, and she's got these two weird round extra dry/red spots too. I don't know that either of these things are related to diapers that need stripping, but I do know that the calendula oil and comfrey slave I've been using on her tush are likely building up on the diapers. They seem a bit less absorbant that they used to be. So, do you have to use Dawn? We use a phospate free, natural dish soap, but for some reason, we have a little sample bottle of Sunlight hanging out under the sink. Can I use Sunlight instead of Dawn? (they're both sun related, so it's all the same thing, right? )

I haven't noticed build up with my homemade salve but if you're unsure I'd go ahead and try the sunlight dishsoap that you have.

For us, I usually skip the Dawn all together, wash like normal, then at the end of my routine, I do several extra hot rinses with super super hot water (water heater turned up), and that usually does it!
