Double layer of fleece too warm for baby's PJs?

We've had a few cold nights lately, so I wanted to make the baby some industrial winter-strength pyjamas using two layers of polar fleece. But I'm cutting the pants out now, and am beginning to wonder if it's overkill. Will it fry her? Like most babies she tends to radiate a lot of heat when she's asleep, but on the other hand she likes to sleep on top of the covers (I spend a good portion of every night tucking her back in!) and I'm worried she'll continue the habit even in cold weather. Also, our bedroom is kind of a tin shed tacked on to the rest of the house sans insulation, so it gets cold.

Any thoughts? Will double layers of fleece be too warm, or come to think of it, just too bulky to sew? She's 13 months, if that makes any difference.

I know it would be too warm for my dd (she's two). She likes to sleep on top of the cover, too, so I understand. When we had no electricity for 16 days due to the ice storm, I had her sleep in her tight-fitting footed cotton jammies and then put a big fleece one over that. She seemed plenty snug even with no heat in the bedroom. And the fleece she was wearing was worn thin as fleece goes- it was her cousin's. So, at least for my hot-natured child I'd say that's too much. Besides, it wouldn't be fun to sew that thick and she'll wear the pajamas more often if they aren't "expedition weight."

You could just put on some light cotton pants and tee underneath the fleece. Then you could tell if she was getting too sweaty in there

For where we are (UK) I think it would be too hot.

When camping we put a pair of fleece PJs a size bigger over their usual cotton ones. Seems to work out well.

that would be overkill where i live as well and we live in the arctic. the house temperature is set at 18C at night. the kids wear flannel pjs and i sewed some footed pants for both of them. DD is 2.5 and sleeps with a duvet and DS is 15 months.

Thanks people! I've started making the pants with one layer only. It's fun - I've never used blanket stitch before, and I love how quick and easy it is!
