A "Star Trek" question ...

In an effort to get our 4yo ds "unplugged" we've been pushing prune juice, and one day we were feeling silly and called it "warrior juice." (The Star Trek TNG reference: Worf being introduced to prune juice by Guinan at the beginning of the "Yesterday's Enterprise" episode and naming it so.)

Anyway, we laughingly told him it was from a TV show and now he wants more than anything to watch Star Trek.

Well, tell the truth, I've got most of the original series and TNG on tape but haven't watched them in years.

The question is, can anyone think of particular episodes that are relatively tame for children? Anything with shooting would be out, and I know there are quite a few (after all, they weren't in a ship of war, they were in a ship of peace ) ...

i don't remember the episode name, but there's the tng where all the crew members get turned into children.

and the tng with the little girl, clara, and her "imaginary" friend. this one talks about how we see children in our society.

damn, can't remember either name, tho, sorry.

So I checked out your suggestions with the kids, "Rascals" (Capt. & pals turn into children) and "Imaginary Friend." Well, "Rascals" has some nasty Ferengi running around with guns and threatening to kill kids & their parents. Nope. And "Imaginary Friend" has said ImFr threatening nastiness and generally scaring me, much less showing to kids.

Those were the most obvious episodes, too. Hmm.

I figure maybe TOS movie 4, with the whales ...
Thanks ...

amy, i'm pretty sure you're always gonna see some degree of violence on TNG (or any star trek) just because of the nature of the show.

maybe let him watch, but watch with him and use the violence as a "teaching moment" to talk about violence. thereis certainly enough of it in our society. might make him feel good to be given the place to discuss it.

just an idea...

Imaginary friend is creepy. Not my first choice for children.

Once upon a time I knew all the names of the episodes but I haven't seen tng for awhile and I'm rather rusty.

There is an episode with Warf's son and Troy's mom that's hillarious (dang can't remember the name)

Inner light is one of my favorites.

'Trouble is most have some violent scene, sigh.

If it isn't violence it's *romance* (bore the kiddo silly)

Some are too creepey for a child.

I liked the one with Troy having the baby (let me think of the name....) It's on the tip of my "tongue".... I think "the Child" which reminds me of "Galaxy's Child" a good one.

TOS "Monster in the Dark" (or something like that) with the horta is good (some violence but a good message) Trouble with Tribbles. Anything with Harcord Fenton Mudd (G)

Again, too much violence in my fav's. City on the edge of forever. sigh.

(Again, the trouble with my favorite TNG episodes is the violence.)

Sorry I can't be of any more help.
