New to cloth diapering and watching the adds on Craigslist.

Is 50% retail a reasonable offer for good quality used diapers? A woman posted selling some "almost new" diapers and she had a large lot available. "Almost new" on Craigslist can mean a lot of things. For most baby items it gets you about 20-40% of retail. She listed what was almost the retail price for them and I offerred 50% of the retail price, accepting her story that they were a few weeks old. I got a fairly nasty email back saying the price listed (like 10% off retail) WAS the sales price.

So, is she crazy? Why would I pay retail for used diapers? Am I?

I think 50% off retail was a good offer. I am a penny pincher so I might have even offered 60% off. Really though, you need to see them to actually know what kind of shape they are in. IMO some people ask way too much for used things off of Craigs List.

IMO some people ask waaaay too much for their used diapers... but keep your eyes open I recently found over $400 worth of new MEOS & covers for $150!

If only used for a few weeks or months, I pay 75% of new. Used diapers are priced high many times. www.diaperswappers.com is an active board.

With the high price of used diapers and the unknown condition--I buy new a little at a time.

I agree that 50% is generally a good offer - but I would want to see them first if possible!
