Jacey Clare has arrived

Thread Starter
Name: Jacey Clare F.
Birthdate: 12 April 2009 at 8:08 PM
Length: 19 3/4 inches
Weight: 6 pounds 8 ounces
Natural Hospital Birth (she tried her darndest to be a homebirth baby)

First Contraction: sometime around noon as we were leaving church. Had some contractions all afternoon, but seemed weak/irregular. Started timing around 4:30 and they stayed about 30 seconds long and about 5 minutes apart and not that strong. I was very irritable, but helped my daughter with some Warcraft questlines. It just seemed to be crampiness, but nothing of note--which added to my irritability. To the point that I could not tell you for sure that I was in labor, but we got everything ready to go, in case. Oh, and our sitter went out of town for Easter. So, no one to watch the kids. Then my water broke about 6 pm, just as I was putting pizzas into the oven (I did not feel like cooking). I called my doula and we ate (read: scarfed) pizza and then left as soon as we got done eating. We made it to the hospital about 7 pm and the midwife checked me. I walked pretty calmly to the triage room, only a couple contractions that made me stop for a half-minute. I was admitted at 7:30. By then my contractions were unmanageable. They got me to a labor and delivery room around quarter till 8. DH took the kids to watch TV in the waiting room, settling in for a long wait, and left me with my doula, knowing that they were shot for school tomorrow.

I told my midwife that I'd like to know how far along I was and she said that since my contractions were only 30 seconds long, that I'm not as far along as I think. I start thinking: "ok. I'm going to need an epidural." Two contractions later, I'm pushing. They call my husband into the room and the kids go into the bathroom as that was the safest place for them and they did not want to see the actual birth. They came out and met their sister a couple minutes later.

Don't worry, Warcraft questlines make lots of people irritable.

Welcome to the world, Jacey! : What a strong mama. No childcare would have freaked me out in labor. I'm glad it all worked out, and so cool they could see her so soon after she was born.

XOXO

I love this line. You were in labor and you didn't feel like cooking?

Congratulations on your baby girl! It sounds like it was a super fast ending to your birth.
